Argo Bromo Anggrek
''Argo Bromo Anggrek'' is the name of executive and luxury train jointly operated by Kereta Api Indonesia between Surabaya and Jakarta in Indonesia. The train covers in 8.5 hours along Java's north coast, stopping at Bojonegoro, Semarang Tawang, Pekalongan, and Cirebon. It is one of the best known trains in Indonesia. Etymology The name ''Argo Bromo'' was derived from the volcano Bromo in East Java. The term ''anggrek'' ( id, orchid) was added to differentiate the train from its predecessor. The orchid is represented in the purple-white livery of the train. GE U20C
The GE U20C diesel-electric locomotive was introduced by GE Transportation Systems as an export model in 1964. It was powered by the 8-cylinder List of GE reciprocating engines, 7FDL-8 engine. This locomotive is used worldwide with many variations and modifications. Different engines may be used, e.g. 7FDL8 and 7FDL12. The Asian financial crisis was a period of financial crisis that gripped much of East Asia and Southeast Asia beginning in July 1997 and raised fears of a worldwide economic meltdown due to financial contagion. Brake Shoe
A brake shoe is the part of a braking system which carries the brake lining in the drum brakes used on automobiles, or the brake block in train brakes and bicycle brakes. A device that is put on a track to slow down railroad cars is also called brake shoe. Automobile drum brake The brake shoe carries the brake lining, which is riveted or glued to the shoe. When the brake is applied, the shoe moves and presses the lining against the inside of the drum. The friction between lining and drum provides the braking effort. Energy is dissipated as heat. Modern cars have disc brakes all round, or discs at the front and drums at the rear.
