Archery Association Of India
Archery Association of India (AAI) is the national governing body of archery in India. Its headquarters are located in New Delhi, and its current president is Arjun Munda, AAI is a non-profit, government funded organisation affiliated by World Archery Federation (IAF), Asian Archery Federation (AAF) and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and recognized by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India. AAI came into existence on 8 August 1973 after archery was reintroduced to the Olympic Games in 1972. It is responsible for organising, promoting and controlling the sport of archery in India. Abhimanyu Sindhu
Captain Abhimanyu Singh Sindhu (born 18 December 1967) is an Indian politician. He was cabinet minister with independent charge of eight departments in the Government of Haryana state in India in the first-ever government led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Haryana. He is a former soldier, award-winning newspaper founder editor, entrepreneur, educationist and philanthropist. He was BJP's Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in Legislative Assembly of Haryana from Narnaund in Hisar district from 2014 to 2019. Archery In India
The national Indian governing body of archery as a sport in India is the Archery Association of India. Deepika Kumari is the first Indian archer to achieve World Number 1 rank in Women's Individual Recurve. She achieved this feat on 14 June in 2012. She again achieved the feat by reaching #1 rank on 28 June 2021. She has won an individual gold medal in archery at the Archery at the 2010 Commonwealth Games – Women's recurve individual, 2010 Commonwealth Games, beating Olympic bronze medalist Alison Williamson. She has also won 5 medals in World Cup Finals which include 4 individual silver medal. She has also won 2 silver medals in World Archery Championships as part of the women's recurve team. Dola Banerjee
Dola Banerjee ( bn, দোলা ব্যানার্জি; born 2 June 1980) is an Indian sportswoman who competes in archery. Early life Dola Banerjee is daughter of Ashok Banerjee and Kalpana Banerjee. She was born in Baranagar near Kolkata. She studied in Baranagar Rajkumari Memorial Girls High School. At the age of eight, she joined Baranagar Archery Club. Her first international appearance was in Youth World Championship in San Diego in 1996 Career Dola Banerjee started archery at the Baranagar Archery Club in 1990 when she was barely 9 years of age. She represented at the tender age of 16 at the Youth World Championship, San Diego in 1996. Since then she has been a regular member of the Indian women’s archery team. The World Archery Federation (WA, also and formerly known as FITA from the French ''Fédération Internationale de Tir à l'Arc'') is the governing body of the sport of archery. It is based in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is composed of 156 national federations and other archery associations, and is recognised by the International Olympic Committee. History FITA was founded on 4 September 1931 in Lwow, Poland (today Lviv, Ukraine). Its seven founding member states were France, Czechoslovakia, Sweden, Poland, the United States, Hungary, and Italy. The aim of the organization was to create regular archery championships, and to return archery to the Olympic Games (the sport had not been featured since 1920).
