Antonivka Road Bridge
The Antonivka Road Bridge, also known as the Antonivskyi Bridge (, ), was a box girder bridge that crossed the Dnieper river in Kherson, Kherson Oblast, southern Ukraine. Design and construction The bridge had been planned since 1977. It opened on 24 December 1985. It was located in the town of Antonivka, Kherson Raion, Kherson Oblast and connected Kherson to Oleshky and Hola Prystan via Highway M14. The bridge was long and rested on 31 pillars. 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine Invasion The bridge changed hands several times during the Battle of Kherson in February 2022 in an attempt by Russian forces to establish a path from Russian-held Crimea into central Ukraine. Ukrainian forces eventually lost control over the area on 26 February 2022 after fierce fighting, leaving several dead soldiers and destroyed military vehicles lying on the bridge. Highway M14 (Ukraine)
Highway M14 is a Ukrainian international highway ( M-highway) connecting Odessa to the Russian border east of Mariupol, where it continues into Russia as the A280. General overview The M14 is a major transnational corridor and along with the M16 combines into the southern branch of European route E58 in Ukraine (another one in Zakarpattia). The highway is also part of the Eurasian transportation corridor and the Black-Sea Economic Association transportation corridor (ChES). Pontoon Bridge
A pontoon bridge (or ponton bridge), also known as a floating bridge, uses float (nautical), floats or shallow-draft (hull), draft boats to support a continuous deck for pedestrian and vehicle travel. 2022 Ukrainian Southern Counteroffensive
A military counteroffensive was launched by Ukraine on 29 August 2022 to expel Russian forces occupying the southern regions of Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. Military analysts consider the counteroffensive to be the third strategic phase of the war in Ukraine, along with the concurrent eastern counteroffensive, after the initial invasion and the Battle of Donbas. After many strikes against Russian military targets, Ukraine announced the start of a full-scale counteroffensive on 29 August 2022.
