Antonio Schembri (ornithologist)
Antonio Schembri (April 1813, in Valletta – December 1872) was a Maltese ornithologist. Antonio Schembri was a shipping agent. He wrote, in Italian, ''Catalogo Ornitologico del Gruppo di Malta'' (1843) which is the first scientific checklist of the birds of Malta and also ''Quadro Geografico Ornitologico Ossia Quadro Comparativo dell’Ornitologia di Malta, Sicilia, Roma, Toscana, Liguria, Nizza ela Provincia di Gard'' (also 1843). In ''Quadro Geografico'' he compared the range and breeding habitats of the birds of Malta, Sicily, Rome, Tuscany, etc. in a tabular list. He also published, in Bologna, ''Vocabolario dei Sinonimi Classici dell' Ornitologia Europea'' (1846). Valletta (, mt, il-Belt Valletta, ) is an Local councils of Malta, administrative unit and capital city, capital of Malta. Luigi Benoit
Luigi Benoit (8 February 1804, in Avola – 19 December 1890, in Messina) was an Italian naturalist. Luigi Benoit studied at the military school "Nunziatella di Napoli" in Naples then began his career in the Agenzia delle Dogane in Messina where he married the Duchessa of Belviso. In 1828 he was arrested and condemned to 18 years of imprisonment in Palermo for supporting political reform. When Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies changed the political direction he was released in 1832, and made "Amministratore del Gran Priorato Gerosomilitano di Messina". Luigi Benoit was dedicated to the study of the ornithology and conchology of Sicily. In 1840 he published ''Ornitologia Siciliana'' (in English ''Sicilian Ornithology''). Camillo Rondani
Camillo Rondani (21 November 1808 – 17 September 1879) was an Italian entomologist noted for his studies of Diptera. Early life, family and education Camillo Rondani was born in Parma when the city was part of the French Empire Napoleon having crowned himself King of Italy. The Rondani family were wealthy landowners and of "rich and of ancient origins" with ecclesiastical connections preliminary. Camillo's early education was in a seminary. He then passed into the public school system where, encouraged by Macedonio Melloni his physics and chemistry teacher in the preparatory course for the University of Parma, he did not attend the law lessons though his family had insisted. He attended mineralogy classes given by a Franciscan priest Father Bagatta and was taught natural history, a complementary course to botany for Medicine and Pharmacy. Dipterologiae Italicae Prodromus
is a fundamental work of systematic entomology by the Italian entomologist Camillo Rondani. It consists of seven volumes published in Paris, Parma, Firenze (Ex Tipographia A. Stocchii between 1856 and 1877. It is written in Latin. The subject is the Diptera of Italy. A ''prodromus'' is a preliminary publication intended as a basis for future work – Rondani's expression is "", in English a programme, or, better to say, a proposal to be examined and discussed and therefore changed, after the considerations of scholars in such materia.
