Anthony Lamar King (born 22 January 1985) is an American-born, naturalised Cypriot professional basketball player for Apollon Limassol of the Cypriot League. The Cyprus men's national basketball team ( el, Εθνική ομάδα μπάσκετ της Κύπρου) represents Cyprus in international basketball, and is controlled by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. The national team is coached by Christophoros Livadiotis. Cypriot Basketball Super Cup
The Cypriot Basketball Super Cup is a men's professional basketball competition in Cyprus, organized by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. It is contested by the champion of the Cypriot First Division and the winner of the Cypriot Cup. History The first Cypriot Super Cup match was played in 1985, with AEL winning the trophy, after beating ENAD 78–75. From 195 until 1994, the competition was held under the name "Independence Shield", but in the following years it was called, the "Federation Cup". From 2005 until 2009, the competition was dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Helios Airways Flight 522 plane crash, which took place at Grammatiko, in 2005. Over the next five years, the competition was called "Marios Papalas' Shield", and since 2015, it is called "OPAP Super Cup". In basketball, a block (short for blocked shot) occurs when a defender deflects or stops a field goal attempt without committing a foul. The National Collegiate Athletic Association's (NCAA) Division I players on this list all accomplished the rare feat of blocking 13 shots in a single game. The 1985–86 season was the first that statistics on blocks were first compiled by the NCAA. The highest single game block total by one player in NCAA Division I men's basketball history is 16, set by Mickell Gladness of Alabama A&M on February 24, 2007 against Texas Southern. Although Gladness holds the single-game record, it is Jarvis Varnado of Mississippi State who claims the all-time career blocked shots record (564). Varnado never blocked 13 or more shots in a game, however. Through the 2015–16 season, only 18 different players have reached the 13-block mark. EuroBasket 2017 Qualification
This article describes the qualification procedure for EuroBasket 2017. Qualification format All teams which didn't qualify yet for EuroBasket 2017 were divided into six groups of four teams and one more of three. The winners of each group and the four best second-placed teams qualified for the final tournament. Kosovo made its first international appearance while Albania and Cyprus came back to the competition after absenting from the last edition. Russian Basketball Federation was suspended by FIBA in July 2015, but later their membership was restored in November 2015. The Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) is a biennial multi-sport event, launched by the Republic of San Marino, organized by and featuring the National Olympic Committees of nine European small states since 1985. The Games are held at the end of May or beginning of June and feature competition in nine Summer Olympic sports. Member countries The games are organized by the members of the European Olympic Committees (EOC). From its initial forming at the 1984 Olympics through 2009, there were eight members; the group's ninth (Montenegro) and tenth member (Vatican City) were added in 2009 and 2018 respectively.
