Anoia (river)
The Anoia (''Noya'' in Spanish) is a river in Catalonia, Spain, most of whose course is within the ''comarca'' of the same name. Its source is in the municipality of Veciana (Anoia) at an elevation of about . It passes through Igualada and crosses the Prelitoral Range at Capellades. It then passes through Gelida (Alt Penedès) before joining the Llobregat from the right at Martorell (Baix Llobregat). Igualada
Igualada () is a municipality in the province of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. It is located on the left bank of the Anoia River and at the western end of the Igualada-Martorell-Barcelona Railway. Igualada is the capital and central market of the Anoia (comarca), Anoia comarca, a rich agricultural and wine-producing district. The population, , is 38,918. The city consists of an old town, founded in the 11th century, with narrow and irregular streets, including the remains of a fortress and defensive wall, ramparts, plus a new surrounding town with regular and spacious streets and many fine houses. The city is west of Barcelona and west of the famous Montserrat (mountain), mountain and monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, Montserrat. Baix Llobregat () is a comarca (county) on the coast of Catalonia, Spain. Its capital is Sant Feliu de Llobregat. Capellades
Capellades () is a town in Catalonia, Spain, located in the south of the comarca of Anoia, some sixty metres above the Anoia river where it cuts through the Catalan Coastal Range. The C-15 trunk road from Vilafranca del Penedès and the FGC railway line R6 from Martorell and Barcelona run along the river valley below the town on their way to Igualada. It is about one hour from Barcelona by car, bus or train. Capellades is known for the manufacture of paper since the seventeenth century. A paper manufacturer in Capellades (established in 1714) specialised today in producing security paper is the oldest company in Spain. In the town there is also a Museum of Paper ( ''Molí-Museu Paperer'') housed in a converted papermill. This is a list of the 42 ''comarques'' (singular ''comarca'', , ) into which Catalonia is divided. A ''comarca'' is a group of municipalities, roughly equivalent to a county in the US or a district or council in the UK. However, in the context of Catalonia, the term "county" can be a bit misleading, because in medieval Catalonia, aside from the kings of Aragon, the most important rulers were counts, notably the Counts of Barcelona and of Urgell. Comarques have no particular relation to the "counties" that were ruled by counts. Calaf
Calaf () is the main town in the northern portion of the ''comarca'' of the Anoia in Catalonia, Spain, situated on the Calaf Plain. The town holds an important weekly livestock market. It is served by the main N-II road from Barcelona to Lleida, the RENFE railway line from Manresa to Lleida and the C-1412 road from Igualada to Ponts. Calaf also has an exit from the new C25 that crosses Catalonia from Girona to Lleida. The remains of Calaf castle dominate the town from a hilltop.
