Anoia () is a Comarques of Catalonia, comarca (county) in central Catalonia, Spain, with its capital at Igualada. The comarca of l'Anoia is irrigated by the Anoia River; the leading industry is the making of paper. To the north are Solsonès and Bages, to the west, Baix Llobregat to the south Baix Penedès and Alt Camp, and to the east Conca de Barberà and Segarra. Piera
Piera is a municipality that covers a large portion of the southeastern corner of the comarca of Anoia in Catalonia, Spain, on the left bank of the Anoia river. The agricultural land, mostly non-irrigated, is used for the cultivation of cereals, grapes, olives and almonds. The town itself hosts a number of light industries: textiles, plastics and construction materials. Tourism during the summer months is also relatively important for the local economy. The FGC railway line R6 from Martorell and Barcelona to Igualada runs through the town, while local roads lead to Capellades and Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. Notable monuments include the castle of Fontanet. The castle which was restored in 1916 by Ramon de Viala d'Aiguavives, Baron of Almenar is documented in 955 a.c. and now used for private functions. Igualada
Igualada () is a municipality in the province of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. It is located on the left bank of the Anoia River and at the western end of the Igualada-Martorell-Barcelona Railway. Igualada is the capital and central market of the Anoia (comarca), Anoia comarca, a rich agricultural and wine-producing district. The population, , is 38,918. Rubió
Rubió is a rural municipality in the ''comarca'' of Anoia in Catalonia, Spain. Its administrative centre is the village of Rubió, and other villages include Maçana and El Pla de Rubió. As of 2014, the municipality had 228 inhabitants. At it is one of the largest municipalities of the Alta Segarra, and at one time was the most sparsely populated. Overview In 1840, the old municipality of Maçana annexed Rubió to increase its population; the municipal limits remain unchanged from then on. Two theories exist about the origin of the toponym Rubió. One holds that it derives from ''rubeus'' (coppery), possibly alluding to the red colour of the land and the rocks of the mountain on which was built the Castell de Rubió. Capellades
Capellades () is a town in Catalonia, Spain, located in the south of the comarca of Anoia, some sixty metres above the Anoia river where it cuts through the Catalan Coastal Range. The C-15 trunk road from Vilafranca del Penedès and the FGC railway line R6 from Martorell and Barcelona run along the river valley below the town on their way to Igualada. It is about one hour from Barcelona by car, bus or train. Capellades is known for the manufacture of paper since the seventeenth century. A paper manufacturer in Capellades (established in 1714) specialised today in producing security paper is the oldest company in Spain. Calaf
Calaf () is the main town in the northern portion of the ''comarca'' of the Anoia in Catalonia, Spain, situated on the Calaf Plain. The town holds an important weekly livestock market. It is served by the main N-II road from Barcelona to Lleida, the RENFE railway line from Manresa to Lleida and the C-1412 road from Igualada to Ponts. Calaf also has an exit from the new C25 that crosses Catalonia from Girona to Lleida. The remains of Calaf castle dominate the town from a hilltop. La Pobla De Claramunt
La Pobla de Claramunt is a municipality in the ''comarca'' of the Anoia in Catalonia, Spain. It is situated on the edge of the Òdena Basin at the entrance to the Capellades Gorge. The town is dominated by Claramunt castle, on a hilltop some 150 m above the modern settlement: the castle was, with Castellbell castle, one of the main points of control of access to the Llobregat valley and hence to Barcelona. With neighbouring Capellades, La Pobla de Claramunt is an important centre for paper manufacture.
