Ano Liossia Station
Ano Liosia ( el, Σιδηροδρομικός Σταθμός Άνω Λιοσίων, Sidirodromikós Stathmós Áno Liosíon) is a train station in Ano Liosia, a western suburb of Athens, Greece. It is located in the median strip of the Attiki Odos motorway, and has a single island platform. The station is the western terminus of Line 4 of the Athens Suburban Railway to and from Athens Airport. It is also served by Line 2 between Piraeus and Kiato. it sits a 700 meaters from Zefyri, or a 2 min train ride. History It opened on 18 July 2006. In 2008, all Athens Suburban Railway services were transferred from OSE to TrainOSE. In 2009, with the Greek debt crisis unfolding OSE's Management was forced to reduce services across the network. Ano Liosia ( el, Άνω Λιόσια) is a suburb and a former municipality in the northern part of the Athens agglomeration, Greece. Since the 2011 local government reform it is part of the municipality Fyli, of which it is the seat and a municipal unit. The municipal unit has an area of 38.447 km2. Geography Ano Liosia lies in the eastern part of West Attica, between the mountains Parnitha to its north and Aigaleo to its southwest. It is 3 km west of Acharnes, 3 km north of Kamatero, 4 km southeast of Fyli, 10 km east of Aspropyrgos and 11 km north of Athens city centre. An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons.
