Annika Lurz
Annika Liebs (6 September 1979), previously Annika Lurz, is an Olympic and former World Record-holding swimmer from Germany. She swam for her homeland at the 2008 Olympics. In 2005, she was a member of the German team that won the silver medal in the 4×100 m freestyle relay at the World Championships in Montreal; and captured three medals (2 silver, 1 bronze) at the Summer Universiade in İzmir, Turkey. At the 2006 European Championships in Budapest, she clocked the then fastest-ever split in the 4×200 m freestyle relay (1.55.64), helping the Germany team to break the world record in the event with their 7.50.82. Other members of the relay were: Petra Dallmann, Daniela Samulski, and Britta Steffen. Also in the pool during the 4×200 m freestyle relay was France's Laure Manaudou, who swam the then-second fastest split ever (1.56.23). The 4×100 metres freestyle relay is a relay event in which each of four swimmers on a team swims a 100-metre freestyle leg in sequence. The world records are recognized by and maintained by FINA (french: Fédération Internationale de Natation), the international competitive swimming and aquatics federation that overseas the sport in international competition. World records in swimming were first recognized by FINA in 1908. The long course (50-metre pool) world records are historically older than the short course (25-metre pool) records. Laure Manaudou
Laure Manaudou (; born 9 October 1986) is a retired French Olympic, world and European champion swimmer. She has held the world record in freestyle events between 200 and 1500 meter. She is the daughter of a French father and a Dutch mother, and she is the older sister of Florent Manaudou who is also an Olympic gold medalist swimmer. Career 2004 Olympics She won the gold medal in the women's 400-meter Freestyle swimming, freestyle at the 2004 Athens Olympics. It was France's first gold medal ever in women's swimming and the first swimming gold medal won by a French athlete since Jean Boiteux's victory in the 400-meter men's freestyle event at Helsinki in 1952. Britta Steffen
Britta Steffen (; born 16 November 1983) is a German competitive swimmer who specializes in freestyle sprint events. Biography In 1999, Steffen won six titles at the European Junior Championships, and won a medal as a member of Germany's relay team in the 4 × 200 metre freestyle at the 2000 Summer Olympics. In 2004, she asked to swim the 4×100 m relay. But after the Olympics, she took one year off swimming and concentrated on her studies, which were not finished. At the 2006 European Championships in Budapest, Steffen clocked 53.30 in the women's 100 m freestyle event, breaking the world record and upstaging the previous record of 53.42 set by Libby Lenton of Australia. Even though Lenton swam a time of 52.99 on 4 April 2007 during the mixed 400 metre freestyle relay, this time was not recognized by the FINA as world record, because the race is not considered to be a FINA event. Daniela Samulski
Daniela Samulski (31 May 1984 – 22 May 2018) was a German swimmer who won three medals at the 2009 World Championships. She competed at the 2000 and 2008 Olympics in five events, and her best achievement was fourth place in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay in 2000.
