Daniela Samulski
Daniela Samulski (31 May 1984 – 22 May 2018) was a German swimmer who won three medals at the 2009 World Championships. She competed at the 2000 and 2008 Olympics in five events, and her best achievement was fourth place in the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay in 2000. Backstroke
Backstroke or back crawl is one of the four swimming styles used in competitive events regulated by FINA, and the only one of these styles swum on the back. This swimming style has the advantage of easy breathing, but the disadvantage of swimmers not being able to see where they are going. It also has a different start from the other three competition swimming styles. The swimming style is similar to an ''upside down'' front crawl or freestyle. Both backstroke and front crawl are long-axis strokes. In individual medley backstroke is the second style swum; in the medley relay it is the first style swum. European Short Course Swimming Championships 2006
The European Short Course Swimming Championships 2006 were held in the Finnish capital, Helsinki, from Thursday 7 to Sunday 10 December. The venue of the event was the aquatic center of Mäkelänrinteen uintikeskus, which last hosted a major event at the pre-Olympic 2000 European Aquatics Championships. Anastasia Valeryevna Fesikova (russian: Анастасия Валерьевна Фесикова; born 8 May 1990), née Anastasia Zuyeva, is a Russian swimmer who holds the Russian national records for the 50, 100 and 200 metres backstroke events. Zhao Jing (swimmer)
Zhao Jing (; born December 31, 1990) is a Chinese former competitive swimmer, backstroke specialist, and world record-holder. Zhao swam at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics, winning a bronze medal in the women's 4x100-meter medley relay in 2008. She has also won gold medals as a member of Chinese teams at the 2009, 2011 and 2013 World Aquatics Championships, and the 2010 short course world championships. Sophie Edington
Sophie Jane Edington (born 12 December 1984) is an Australian backstroke and freestyle swimmer. Biography Edington trained at the Kingscliff ASC club under Greg Salter. After Salter took up an overseas coaching role Edington moved to Queensland to train under the QAS program from the end of 2008. In 2010, she moved to Melbourne where she trained at MSAC. At the 2005 World Aquatics Championships in Montréal she won two gold medals, with the backstroke leg in 4×100-metre medley relay, and as a heat swimmer in the 4×100-metre freestyle relay. She won three gold medals at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne: 50-metre and 100-metre backstroke, and the 4×100-metre medley relay in world record time of 3:56.30 seconds with teammates Leisel Jones, Libby Lenton and Jessicah Schipper. The women's 4×100 metre freestyle relay event at the 2000 Summer Olympics took place on 16 September at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre in Sydney, Australia. The U.S. women's team dominated the race from the start to break the six-year-old world record and most importantly, to defend an Olympic title in the event. The foursome of Amy Van Dyken (55.08), Dara Torres (53.51), Courtney Shealy (54.40), and Jenny Thompson (53.62) put together a stellar time of 3:36.61 to capture the relay gold medal, shaving off China's 1994 world record by 1.3 seconds. As the Americans celebrated their triumph in the pool, Thompson picked up her eighth career medal to become the nation's most successful woman in Olympic history. 2007 Military World Games
The 2007 Military World Games, officially the 4th CISM Military World Games were held at the twin-cities Hyderabad - Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India from 14–21 October 2007. Some parts of the games were also held in Mumbai. According to press release by the organizers nearly 5000 athletes from 101 countries participated. The motto of the games was ''Friendship Through Sport''. Russia emerged on top of the medal tally with 42 gold, 29 silver and 29 bronze medals. The People's Republic of China, second with 38 gold, 22 silver and 13 bronze while Germany came a distant third with 7 gold, 10 silver and 13 bronze.
