Anne Marie Beretta
Anne-Marie Beretta (born 24 September 1937) is a French stylist. She is known particularly for her iconic "101801" coat designed for Max Mara. In 1986 she became a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres. Life Beretta was born in Béziers in 1937. In 1957 she took the advice of Roger Bauer who was working at Jacques Griffe and decided to be a fashion designer. She found work with Antonio Castillo (costume designer), Antonio Castillo who was creating costumes for the theatre. She went on to work in New York for Pierre d’Alby and Mac Douglas, and Oleg Cassini. She came to notice in 1968 designing waterproofs for Ramosport and the "101801" signature coat for Max Mara in 1981. This coat which was said to have influenced the 80s is still in production in 2020. Harrods estimate that 140,000 of these coats have been sold. In 1974 she launched her ready to wear brand. Jacques Griffe
Jacques Griffe (1909-1996) was a French couturier and fashion designer. Biography Griffe was born in Carcassonne, France. He died in 1996. Fashion career Griffe served an apprenticeship for a tailor in Carcassonne, before relocating to Toulouse where he worked for Mirra, a dressmaker there who followed the Paris collections. From 1936 to 1939 he worked with Madeleine Vionnet as a cutter, before launching his own couture house in 1942. Initially based on the rue Gaillon, he later relocated to the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, and eventually took over Edward Molyneux's salon on the rue Royale. Antonio Cánovas del Castillo de Rey (13 December 1908 – 13 May 1984), known professionally as Antonio Castillo, was a Spanish fashion and costume designer who won an Academy Award for the film ''Nicholas and Alexandra'' in the category Academy Award for Best Costume Design during the 1971 Academy Awards, that he won along with Yvonne Blake. Biography Antonio Cánovas del Castillo de Rey was born in 1908 in Madrid. He was educated in his home city at the Colegio del Pilar and the University of Madrid before studying in Granada at the El Sacro Monte.
