Anne-Louise Élie De Beaumont
Anne-Louise Élie de Beaumont (1729 – 12 January 1783) was a French writer. She was the author of ''Letters from the Marquis de Roselle''. Biography Beaumont was born Anne Louise Morin du Mesnil in Caen in 1729 the daughter of Huguenot Robert de Bérenger. Though she was raised a Catholic on the orders of Louis XV, her father was Protestant. He left France selling the family's estate at Mézidon-Canon. Her husband was Jean-Baptiste-Jacques Élie de Beaumont, a lawyer in the Calas affair and well known defender of religious freedom. They married in 1760. The couple had a son Arnaud 1772. They also regained the family estate through a legal battle. Beaumont wrote several books for publication and they have been translated into a number of languages including English and Dutch. Louis XV
Louis XV (15 February 1710 – 10 May 1774), known as Louis the Beloved (french: le Bien-Aimé), was King of France from 1 September 1715 until his death in 1774. He succeeded his great-grandfather Louis XIV at the age of five. Until he reached maturity (then defined as his 13th birthday) on 15 February 1723, the kingdom was ruled by his grand-uncle Philippe II, Duke of Orléans, as Regent of France. Cardinal Fleury was chief minister from 1726 until his death in 1743, at which time the king took sole control of the kingdom. His reign of almost 59 years (from 1715 to 1774) was the second longest in the history of France, exceeded only by his predecessor, Louis XIV, who had ruled for 72 years (from 1643 to 1715). Mézidon-Canon
Mézidon-Canon () is a former commune in the Calvados department in the Normandy region in northwestern France. On 9 September 1972, Mézidon merged with Canon to create Mézidon-Canon. On 1 January 2017, it was merged into the new commune Mézidon Vallée d'Auge. 16 September 2016 Canon was the site of a fortress built in 1050 by Odo (Eudes) Stigand for William the Bastard, duke of Normandy, Odo was the first baron of Mézidon and founder of the priory of St. Barbara, known as Sainte-Barbe-en-Auge. Jean-Baptiste-Jacques Élie De Beaumont
Jean-Baptiste-Jacques Élie de Beaumont (1732 Carentan–January 10, 1786 Paris) was a French lawyer from an old Normandy, Norman Protestantism, Protestant family. Élie de Beaumont was called to the bar in 1752 and was an attorney for the ''Parlement'' of Normandy, and made his name at the Paris bar, before being forced by poor health, from giving pleadings. He then confined himself to publishing legal briefs, where he showed a keen sense of fairness, the art of presenting the facts and gathering evidence, which made him a European reputation. His claim to fame is the ''Memoir for the Children of Calas'' (Paris, 1762, 4to). The brilliant part he took in the Calas affair earned him, among Protestants, gratitude and a high reputation. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1765. His wife was the writer Anne-Louise Élie de Beaumont and his grandson, the geologist Jean-Baptiste Élie de Beaumont.
