Anita Socola Specht
Anita Socola Specht (June 1871 - November 11, 1958) was an American composer, pianist, and singer who was president of the Louisiana State Federation of Music Clubs and helped found the New Orleans Symphony Orchestra. Specht was born in Louisiana to Eliza Curien and Angelo Socola. She had five brothers who were actors. She was only 13 when she made her debut at the Grunewald Opera House, where she met her future husband, conductor William Henry Bernard Specht. They married in 1906 had one son. Specht was fluent in French and Spanish. She studied music in New Orleans, Chicago, and New York City. Her teachers included Alexander Lambert, Herbert Rolling, Marguerite Samuel, and William Charles Ernest Seeboeck. New Orleans Symphony Orchestra
The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) is an American orchestra based in New Orleans, Louisiana. It is the only full-time, professional orchestra in the Gulf South. The orchestra performs at the Orpheum Theater. The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra's music director is Carlos Miguel Prieto. The LPO performs a full 36-week concert season featuring an array of Classics, Casual Classics, Family, Education, and Outreach concerts, as well as Special Events. The Historic New Orleans Collection
The Historic New Orleans Collection (THNOC) is a museum, research center, and publisher dedicated to the study and preservation of the history and culture of New Orleans and the Gulf South region of the United States. It is located in New Orleans' French Quarter. The institution was established in 1966 by General and Mrs. L. Kemper Williams to keep their collection of Louisiana materials intact and available for research and exhibition to the public.
