Andrés Chocho
Cristian Andrés Chocho León (born 4 November 1983) is an Ecuadorian race walker who competes in both the 20 km and 50 km walk events. He is the South American record holder in the 50 km (3:49:32 hours) and 20,000 metres (1:20:23.8 hours) walking events. Chocho was the 2011 South American Champion over 20 km and was the bronze medallist at the 2011 Summer Universiade. His best global level finish is eleventh over 50 km at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics. He represented Ecuador at four Summer Olympics, won a gold medal in 50 km Walk in the 2015 Toronto Pan Am Games, and is a seven-time participant of the IAAF World Race Walking Cup. The South American Race Walking Championships (''Spanish: Campeonatos Sudamericanos de Marcha Atlética'') is a biennial race walking competition organized by CONSUDATLE for athletes representing the countries of its member associations. Races for senior men and women, for junior and for youth athletes are featured. In addition, there are separate team competitions. The event was established (most probably) in 1989 as South American Race Walking Cup (''Spanish: Copa Sudamericana de Marcha Atlética''), and was occurring annually at first. The 2001 event was held in conjunction with the Pan American Race Walking Cup. The name as well as the frequency of the competition were changed in 2004. Jefferson Pérez
Jefferson Leonardo Pérez Quezada (born 1 July 1974) is an Ecuadorian retired race walker. He specialized in the 20 km event, in which he won the first two medals his country achieved in the Olympic Games. He won the gold medal at the 1996 Olympics, becoming the oldest-ever silver medal winner in the 20 km walk event. Following his win he embarked on a pilgrimage, walking, jogging and running from Quito's Franciscan cathedral to his hometown of Cuenca. In the 2008 Olympics he won silver in the same event. He announced his retirement from the sport at 2008. In the 2003 World Championships in Paris, France, Pérez also set the world best performance (as there are no world records in race walking) with 1:17:21 in the 20 km. IAAF World Race Walking Cup
The World Athletics Race Walking Team Championships is a racewalking event organised by the International Association of Athletics Federations. It has been held since 1961, and generally on a biennial basis. Women first entered the 1979 edition. It was formerly known as the Lugano Cup after the city that hosted the first event, then became the IAAF World Race Walking Cup until 2016 and then IAAF World Race Walking Team Championships until 2018. In 2004, a junior division was added, consisting of men and women aged under 20. Since 2008 it has been a constituent meeting of the World Athletics Challenge – Race Walking. From 1975 to 1997 was awarded Lugano Trophy for combined team (20K + 50K).
