André Brantjes
André Brantjes (born 29 November 1958) is a Dutch former darts player who played in British Darts Organisation (BDO) events till 2006. Career Brantjes reached the final of the 2003 German Open, losing to Ted Hankey. He then won the unranked Spring Cup, beating Vincent van der Voort in the semi-finals and then defeating Erik Clarys in the final. After reaching the quarter-finals of the 2004 Finnish Open, Brantjes retained the Spring Cup title, beating Mario Robbe and Dick van Dijk before defeating Niels de Ruiter in the final. Brantjes played in the 2004 International Darts League, losing his opening group game to Gary Anderson, he defeated Robbe before beating Martin Adams to qualify for the second group stage. Martin Adams
Martin Adams (born 4 June 1956) is an English professional darts player who plays in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. Nicknamed "Wolfie", he is a three-time BDO World Champion and three-time World Masters champion. He represents Cambridgeshire at county darts level and was the captain of England from 1993 to 2013, the longest any player has held that role. From his debut in 1994, Adams made a record 25 consecutive World Championship appearances, before failing to qualify for the first time in 2019. Adams was diagnosed with prostate cancer in April 2016, but by the end of the year he was given the all-clear. As well as playing, he also acts as a regular pundit and commentator for televised coverage of BDO events. Darts career Adams was born in Sutton, Surrey and started his darts career in pubs. The 2006 Winmau World Masters was a darts tournament held at Leisure World in Bridlington between October 13-15, 2006. It also featured a qualifying event for the 2007 Lakeside World Professional Championship. Seventeen-year-old Michael van Gerwen became the youngest winner in the 32-year history of the event when he defeated England captain Martin Adams in the final. John Walton (darts Player)
John Michael Walton (born 10 November 1961) is an English professional darts player currently playing in World Darts Federation (WDF) events. He is best known for winning the 2001 BDO World Darts Championship. He adopted the nickname John Boy and used the song "Cotton Eye Joe" by Rednex as his walk-on theme. BDO career 1993–2000: Early career Walton picked up some small tournament victories in the early stages of his career, including the Websters 150 Championship in 1993 and the Highlands Open Championship in 1996 but didn't manage to qualify for the World Championship until 1999 when he lost 0–3 to Roland Scholten on his first round debut. David Richardson-Page (born 21 October 1962) is an English former professional darts player who played in British Darts Organisation (BDO) events. He was nicknamed Rocky and The Face. Career Richardson was well renowned for having the worst record in the history of the World Professional Darts Championship, losing in the first round in his first five appearances. In 1993, he lost to Steve Beaton in the first round, he would return to Lakeside in 1999 where he lost to Co Stompé. He also recorded first round exits in 2001 to Jez Porter, 2002 against Wayne Mardle and 2005 against Martin Adams, making him one of three players (along with Tony Payne and Steve West (darts player), Steve West) to lose each of their first five matches at the world championship. Simon Whitlock
Simon Whitlock (born 3 March 1969) is an Australian professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments, having also played in the British Darts Organisation (BDO) between 2004 and 2009. He uses the nickname The Wizard for his matches. His walk-on music is "Down Under" by Men at Work. His greatest achievements to date are winning the 2012 European Championship and 2022 World Cup of Darts for Australia with Damon Heta. Whitlock has also finished runner-up at the 2008 BDO World Darts Championship and the 2010 PDC World Darts Championship. He claimed that the prize money gained from the latter tournament which included money for the highest checkout (joint with Phil Taylor) would allow him to move over to the UK from Australia and compete on the PDC Pro Tour. Mervyn King (darts Player)
Mervyn King (born 15 March 1966) is an English professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) tournaments. Nicknamed The King, he has reached seven PDC major TV finals and reached a peak of No. 4 in the PDC Order of Merit. Early life King first took up the game at the age of 12, playing with an old rolled-cardboard dartboard given to him by his father. His father insisted that he played darts using competition distance and height. By the age of 13, he had ambitions to become a professional player as he was playing county darts at Superleague level. Co Stompé
Jacobus Wilhelmus "Co" Stompé (born 10 September 1962) is a Dutch former professional darts player. He was nicknamed The Matchstick because of his almost bald head and very thin appearance, making him look like a matchstick. He was also one of very few professionals who played in longsleeved shirts. Darts career BDO For years, Stompé was considered the third best Dutch darts player behind Raymond van Barneveld and Roland Scholten. After reaching the semi-finals of the 2000 World Championship, he dropped back behind a younger emerging Dutch group of players.
