Andrus Seeme (born on 8 November 1969 in Põlva) is an Estonian politician. He is a member of the XIV Riigikogu. In 1993 he graduated from Estonian University of Life Sciences in agronomy speciality. 2001-2017 he was the mayor of Kõlleste Rural Municipality. 2017-2019 he was the mayor of Kanepi Rural Municipality. Põlva
Põlva () is a town in southeastern Estonia, the capital of Põlva County, and the centre of Põlva Parish. Põlva is home for the Intsikurmu Song Festival Grounds, which regularly hosts concerts and summer activities, situated in a small forested area on the west side of the town. History The name "Põlva" appears in the historical record in 1452. The name seems to derive from the Estonian word for "knee" (). Legend has it that a girl was immured in a kneeling position in St. Mary's Church to keep the devil away. This is reputedly how the town was named. Põlva was an old military crossroad between the north and south of Livonia. Around 1240, shortly after the Christianization of Estonia, the Bernardine monks built a church, which they dedicated to the Virgin Mary. The church was subordinate to the Bishopric of Dorpat. The Estonian Reform Party ( et, Eesti Reformierakond) is a liberal political party in Estonia. The party has been led by Kaja Kallas since 2018. It is colloquially known as the "Squirrel Party" ( et, Oravapartei). It was founded in 1994 by Siim Kallas, then-president of the Bank of Estonia, as a split from Pro Patria National Coalition Party. As the Reform Party has participated in most of the government coalitions in Estonia since the mid-1990s, its influence has been significant, especially regarding Estonia's free market and policies of low taxation. In many countries, a mayor is the highest-ranking official in a municipal government such as that of a city or a town.
