Andreas Rygg
Andreas Kielland Rygg (22 March 1909 – 2 April 1999) was a Norwegian military officer. He was born in Horten, a son of naval commander Andreas Andersen and Nelly Kielland. He finished secondary school in 1929 and graduated as a naval officer in 1932. He married Sofie Gram in 1937, daughter of stipendiary magistrate Harald Gram and sister of Gregers Gram. He served on several vessels, from 1939 as second-in-command of HNoMS ''B-6''. In May 1940 he temporarily left naval service, being hired in the Ministry of Provisioning in the summer. During the German occupation of Norway he established the clandestine organization for naval intelligence RMO, which operated from Oslo from the spring of 1942. Rygg chaired RMO until he had to flee to Sweden in 1943, due to the German mass arrest of Norwegian military officers. Horten
is a town and municipality in Vestfold in Vestfold og Telemark county, Norway—located along the Oslofjord. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Horten. The municipality also includes the town of Åsgårdstrand and the villages of Borre, Skoppum, and Nykirke. The town of Horten was separated from the municipality of Borre to become a municipality of its own in 1858. The neighboring municipalities of Borre and Horten were merged back together on 1 January 1988. The name of the new united municipality was first ''Borre'', but after a referendum it was changed to ''Horten'' on 1 June 2002. The local newspaper in Horten is named Gjengangeren, and covers mostly local news. It is also available online (see external links section). ''Hvem er hvem?'' ( en, Who is Who?) was a Norwegian book series, presenting facts about notable persons from Norway. The first edition was issued in 1912, and the 14th edition came in 1994.
