Andreas Christou
Andreas Christou is a political and social figure in the Republic of Cyprus. Early life Christou was born in Limassol in 1948. He graduated from Lanition Gymnasium. He studied mechanical engineering in Moscow and was actively involved in the Cypriot Students and Youth Movement. He worked as a mechanical engineer and later on as a senior manager of a Limassol-based Industrial Corporation. Political career In the first Municipal Elections, held in 1986, he was elected as a Municipal Councilor. He was also a member of thSewerage Board of Limassol-Amathusand the Water Board of Limassol Christou was elected as a Member of Parliament for AKEL, representing the District of Limassol three times. During his term as an MP, he was Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Institutions and Merit, Chairman of the Parliamentary Subcommittee on Temporary Civil Servants and a Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs. Nicos Nicolaides (politician)
Nicos Nicolaides ( el, Νίκος Νικολαΐδης; born 2 November 1953) is a Greek Cypriot politician. He is currently the Mayor of Limassol. From May 2011 to December 2016, he was a Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives of Cyprus, representing the Limassol constituency under the banner of social democratic party EDEK. Personal life Nicolaides was born in Limassol in 1953. He studied electrical engineering at Dartmouth College and the University of Southern California, earning a master's degree. Nicolaides is married to Elena Ioannou and has two children and a grandson. He speaks English and French fluently. The House of Representatives ( el, Βουλή των Αντιπροσώπων ; tr, Temsilciler Meclisi) is the national unicameral legislature of the Republic of Cyprus. Members and three observers representing Armenian, Latin, and Maronite Cypriots are elected by proportional representation every five years. 30% of seats are allocated to Turkish Cypriots, but these have been vacant since 1964.
