Amen (American Band)
Amen is an American punk/metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1994. The band was founded by frontman and singer Casey Chaos and combines elements of punk rock, hardcore, and heavy metal. Amen has released four studio albums, one live album, and the songs "Coma America", "The Price of Reality", and "California's Bleeding". The band saw continuous changes in membership, with Casey Chaos remaining the sole original member. History Formation and debut (1994) Amen was formed in 1994 in Los Angeles, California, after the disbanding of its frontman and singer Casey Chaos's previous band, Disorderly Conduct. The name "Amen" is a reference to the title of Disorderly Conduct's 1986 album of the same name. Nu Metal
Nu metal (sometimes stylized as nü-metal, sometimes called aggro-metal) is a subgenre of that combines elements of heavy metal music with elements of other music genres such as hip hop, alternative rock, funk, industrial, and grunge. Nu metal bands have drawn elements and influences from a variety of musical styles, including multiple genres of heavy metal. Nu metal rarely features guitar solos or other displays of technical competence; the genre is heavily syncopated and based on guitar riffs. Many nu metal guitarists use seven-string guitars that are down-tuned to produce a heavier sound. DJs are occasionally featured in nu metal to provide instrumentation such as sampling, turntable scratching and electronic backgrounds. John Fahnestock
Lo-Pro is an American rock band formed in 2002 by Pete Murray and Neil Godfrey after the disbandment of their previous band, Ultraspank, in 2001. After attracting the attention of Aaron Lewis of Staind, the band signed to a major record label, Geffen Records, and released their debut album, ''Lo-Pro'' in 2003. After a year of touring in support of the album, they would be dropped from their label. The band stayed together, but it would be almost six years until any further music releases, with the band opting to record and re-record several album's worth of material, participate in side-projects, and perform live shows prior to finalizing new material for release. Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. Hardcore Punk
Hardcore punk (also known as simply hardcore) is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Its roots can be traced to earlier punk scenes in San Francisco and Punk rock in California, Southern California which arose as a reaction against the still predominant History of the hippie movement, hippie cultural climate of the time. Duke Decter
Duke Decter is an American entertainment producer, former 1980s American hardcore punk guitarist and current producer of the ''No Uncertain Terms'' podcast for the non-profit organization U.S. Term Limits. Early career Decter started his career at 15 years of age in the South Florida hardcore punk band F. The band was most notable for a six-song EP entitled ''You Are An E.P.'' in 1983 (see discography). In 1984, Decter wrote and submitted a song titled "Roddy Pipers Rowdy Hearts Club Band" for ''The Wrestling Album''. The song was to be the feature song for then WWF wrestler Roddy Piper. Although the song did not make the record, it was later included on the ''Four Bands That Could Change The World'' compilation album released in 1985 on Gasatanka Records. Luke Anthony Johnson
Luke Anthony "Jocko" Johnson (born 11 March 1981) is an English rock musician, drummer and songwriter. He is most commonly known as 'Jocko'. Johnson began his music career in the late 1990s drumming for a spree of small local West Midlands- punk and metal bands. In early 2003 Johnson was approached by California punk band Amen to join the ranks. After his departure from Amen in 2005, Johnson formed Beat Union as drummer and songwriter with Dave Warsop, Dean Ashton and Mark Andrews. Johnson joined the Welsh alternative metal band Lostprophets in 2009 until their disbanding in 2013. Johnson has also been involved in other musical projects, including working alongside Producer John Feldmann (Good Charlotte, The Used, Kelly Clarkson) and has performed session work for a variety of bands, including The Wonder Stuff and Foxy Shazam. Matthew Montgomery (born November 16, 1975), also known as Piggy D., is an American musician most famous as a guitarist in horror punk band Wednesday 13 and bassist for Rob Zombie. Career history He first took over bass duties with Rob Zombie from current Ozzy Osbourne bassist Blasko, playing " American Witch" live on the ''Late Show with David Letterman'' right before picking up the second leg of the ''Educated Horses'' tour in mid 2006. To this day, he maintains a successful solo career while playing with Zombie. Piggy co-directed a short 10-minute promo video entitled ''Along Came a Spider: the Movie'' for Alice Cooper's album which was released on the Cooper's official YouTube-page on October 2, 2008. Zachary Charles Hill (born December 28, 1979) is an American multi-instrumentalist and visual artist. He is best known as the drummer and co-producer of the groups Death Grips and the I.L.Y's, and as the drummer of math rock band Hella. Art In addition to music, Hill is also a visual artist. Sonny Mayo
Sonny Mayo (born July 16, 1971) is an American guitarist. Career Mayo began playing in a thrash metal band called Silence in the late 1980s. Silence (John Mayes, Benjamin Gaither, Louie Denslow, Jason Robinson and Sonny), regularly sold out venues in the DC Metro area including the "Bayou" in Georgetown. While with Silence, he released a nine track CD, ''Vision'', and recorded a three song tape with Alex Perialas (producer -Anthrax, Overkill, S.O.D.). One of the songs from the tape, "One Race" was made into a black and white video filmed at the Bayou (note, the director of the video was John Brenkus, who now does Sport Science on ESPN). He then joined M.F. Pitbulls with Shannon Larkin (Wrathchild America, Ugly Kid Joe, Amen, now Godsmack) on vocals, Jamie Miller ( Snot, Bad Religion, The Start) on drums, and John "Tumor" Fahnestock ( Snot, Amen, Noise Within) on bass. Shannon Larkin
James Shannon Larkin (born April 24, 1967) is an American musician, best known as the drummer of rock band Godsmack. He replaced the previous drummer Tommy Stewart in June 2002. Prior to Godsmack, he was a member of Amen, Candlebox, Ugly Kid Joe, and Souls at Zero (formerly Wrathchild America). Shannon played drums for Godsmack for their albums '' Faceless'', '' IV'', '' The Other Side EP'', '' The Oracle'', '' 1000hp'', and their latest album ''When Legends Rise''. Career Larkin has been playing drums since the age of ten. He formed Wrathchild America in 1978, recording two albums for Atlantic Records before being dropped by the label.
