Duke Decter
Duke Decter is an American entertainment producer, former 1980s American hardcore punk guitarist and current producer of the ''No Uncertain Terms'' podcast for the non-profit organization U.S. Term Limits. Early career Decter started his career at 15 years of age in the South Florida hardcore punk band F. The band was most notable for a six-song EP entitled ''You Are An E.P.'' in 1983 (see discography). In 1984, Decter wrote and submitted a song titled "Roddy Pipers Rowdy Hearts Club Band" for '' The Wrestling Album''. The song was to be the feature song for then WWF wrestler Roddy Piper. Although the song did not make the record, it was later included on the ''Four Bands That Could Change The World'' compilation album released in 1985 on Gasatanka Records. F did several small east coast tours during the 1980s, touring with the Ramones, White_Flag, and Flag of Democracy. Queens
Queens is a borough of New York City, coextensive with Queens County, in the U.S. state of New York. Located on Long Island, it is the largest New York City borough by area. The Dickies
The Dickies are an American punk rock band formed in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, in 1977. One of the longest tenured punk rock bands, they have been in continuous existence for over 40 years. They have consistently balanced catchy melodies, harmony vocals, and pop music, pop song structures, with a speedy punk guitar attack. GBH (band)
GBH (originally known as Charged GBH) are an English punk rock band which was formed in 1978 by vocalist Colin Abrahall, guitarist Colin "Jock" Blyth, bassist Sean McCarthy (replaced by Ross Lomas after two years) and drummer Andy "Wilf" Williams. Background GBH were early pioneers of British street punk, often nicknamed " UK82", along with Discharge, Broken Bones, The Exploited, and The Varukers. GBH have gone on to influence several punk rock musicians, but their influence has been especially far-reaching in metal, including the early Bathory albums, Hellhammer/ Celtic Frost, Exodus and each of the "big four of thrash metal" ( Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax). Metallica frontman James Hetfield has repeatedly expressed his enthusiasm for GBH and said such bands were the beginning of thrash to him. Agent Orange (band)
Agent Orange is an American punk rock band formed in Placentia, California in 1979. The band was one of the first to mix punk rock with surf music. History The power trio's original lineup was Mike Palm on guitar and vocals, Steve Soto on bass, and Scott Miller on drums. They first gained attention for their song "Bloodstains," originally appearing on their self-released debut 7" EP in 1980. A demo version of the song was given to Rodney Bingenheimer, a DJ at Pasadena radio station KROQ-FM, who placed it on his seminal 1980 compilation album, ''Rodney on the ROQ'', on Posh Boy Records. With James Levesque on bass (replacing Soto, who left to form the Adolescents), the group recorded their debut '' Living In Darkness'' album with Brian Elliot, best known for composing Madonna's hit "Papa Don't Preach." Germs (band)
The Germs were an American punk rock band from Los Angeles, California, originally active from 1976 to 1980. The band's "classic" lineup consisted of singer Darby Crash, guitarist Pat Smear, bassist Lorna Doom and drummer Don Bolles. They released only one album, 1979's ''(GI)'', produced by Joan Jett, and were featured in Penelope Spheeris' seminal documentary film ''The Decline of Western Civilization'', which chronicled the Los Angeles punk movement. The Germs disbanded following Crash's suicide in 1980. Their music was influential to many later rock acts, and Smear went on to achieve greater fame performing with Nirvana and Foo Fighters. In 2005, actor Shane West was cast to play Crash in the biographical film '' What We Do Is Secret''. Misfits (band)
The Misfits are an American punk rock band often recognized as the pioneers of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. The group was founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey, by vocalist, songwriter and keyboardist Glenn Danzig, and drummer Manny Martínez. Jerry Only joined on bass guitar shortly after. Over the next six years, membership would change frequently with Danzig and Only remaining the two sole consistent members. During this time period, they released several EPs and singles, and with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums ''Walk Among Us'' (1982) and '' Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood'' (1983), both considered to have significance to the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. ''Maximumrocknroll'', often written as ''Maximum Rocknroll'' and usually abbreviated as ''MRR'', is a not-for-profit monthly zine of punk subculture. Based in San Francisco, ''MRR'' focuses on punk rock and hardcore music, and primarily features artist interviews and music reviews. Op/ed columns and news roundups are regular features as well, including submissions from international contributors. By 1990, it "had become the de facto bible of the scene". ''Flipside'', originally known as ''Los Angeles Flip Side,'' was a punk zine published in Whittier and Pasadena, California, from 1977 to 2000. The magazine was associated with its own record label, Flipside Records, releasing vinyl records and compact discs beginning in 1978. As one of the first and longest running U.S. punk rock fanzines, Flipside chronicled the independent and underground music scene. Known for its highly opinionated cast of writers, ''Flipside'' evolved from a photocopied fanzine to a magazine produced by web offset printing and featuring glossy covers. WLRN-FM
WLRN-FM is a class C1 FM station on 91.3 MHz, and is the main public radio station for South Florida and the Keys based in Miami. The station is owned by the Miami-Dade County Public Schools and is the area's flagship NPR member station, therefore carries ''Morning Edition'', ''All Things Considered'', ''Weekend Edition'', and '' Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me!''. It is also affiliated with Public Radio International and carries ''The Takeaway'' and ''The World'', among others. Flag of Democracy, sometimes abbreviated as F.O.D.,) is an American hardcore punk band formed in 1982 and originally from Ambler, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia. In November 1982, the band played their first show, opening for Minor Threat, Agnostic Front, and SS Decontrol. During the 1980s and '90s the band embarked on international tours. On November 30, 2007, F.O.D. played their 25th Anniversary Show in Philadelphia at the First Unitarian Church. White Flag is an American punk rock band currently based in Los Angeles. Their current lineup consists of frontman Mike Mess (guitar), Jello B. Afro (bass), and Trace Element (drums). These members have been in the band since 1982, though many have rotated in and out. White Flag has a discography that ranges from their 1982 debut ''R is for Rocket'' to 2010's ''Benefit For Cats''.
