All India Chess Federation
The All India Chess Federation (AICF) is central administrative body for the game of chess in India. Founded in 1951, the federation is affiliated to Fédération Internationale des Échecs (FIDE), the world body for chess. The AICF has produced Viswanathan Anand, Nihal Sarin, Pentala Harikrishna, Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa and Vidit Santosh Gujrathi and many other grandmasters. The organisation is also in charge of managing women's chess in India. AICF's current headquarter is in New Delhi. History The All India Chess Federation was registered in 12 December 1958 and was registered as a Society under the Societies Registration act of 1860. In August 2022, AICF hosted the 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai, India, which was the first Chess Olympiad ever to take place in the country. Chess
Chess is a board game for two players, called White and Black, each controlling an army of chess pieces in their color, with the objective to checkmate the opponent's king. Tamil Nadu State Chess Association
The Tamil Nadu State Chess Association (TNSCA) is the apex body for the game of chess in Tamil Nadu, India. It was formed on 26 April 1947 with a view to identifying upcoming chess players and mould them into world-class professionals. The association was earlier known as Madras Chess Club. Maharashtra Chess Association
The Maharashtra Chess Association (MCA) is the apex body for the game of chess in Maharashtra, India. It was formed in 1963 and is affiliated with the All India Chess Federation. History The first chess association in Maharashtra is South Maharashtra Chess Club which was formed in 1921. In 1930 the Sangali Chess Society was established. Again in 1941, Nutan Buddhibal Mandal was formed in Sangali, which is still in existence. Later in 1955 the Southern Maratha Country Chess Association was formed. The Goa Chess Association (GSCA) is an association for the game of chess in Goa, India. It was formed in 1977 and is affiliated with the All India Chess Federation. Bengal Chess Association
The Bengal Chess Association (BCA) is the apex body for the game of chess in West Bengal, India. It was formed on 2012 after the West Bengal Chess Association was dissolved. It is affiliated to the All India Chess Federation. History The erstwhile West Bengal ''Ad Hoc'' Committee, was given an elected form on 3 January 2012, where Sanjoy Sureka was elected president. The state body, West Bengal Chess Association was dissolved, as it failed to implement the Calcutta High Court's order, given on July 6, 1993 to conduct election within two weeks. All Assam Chess Association
The All Assam Chess Association ( as, সদৌ অসম দবা সন্থা) is a registered (under the Societies Registration Act: XXI of 1860, Number 1347 of 1981–82) chess association of the Assam state of India. It was formed in the late 1960s by Bodiyuz Zaman from Jorhat. The first president of the association was Kamakhya Prasad Tripathi. It is affiliated with the All India Chess Federation and officially accredited by the Fédération Internationale des Échecs, (FIDE). Affiliates Till date AACA has managed to establish district affiliates in each of Assam's districts. World Chess Championship 2010
The World Chess Championship 2010 match pitted the defending world champion, Viswanathan Anand, against challenger Veselin Topalov, for the title of World Chess Champion. The match took place in Sofia, Bulgaria from 24 April to 13 May 2010, with a prize fund of million euros (60% to the winner). Anand won the final game to win the match 6½–5½ and retain the title. The match was to be twelve games, with tie-breaks if necessary, the same format and length as the 2006 and 2008 matches. Background Qualifying In early 2006, FIDE announced that the World Chess Championship 2007 for the title of FIDE World Chess Champion would be an eight-player tournament.
