Polish Basketball League
Polska Liga Koszykówki (PLK) (English language, English: Polish Basketball League) is a professional men's club basketball list of basketball leagues, league in Poland. It constitutes the first and highest-tier level of the Polish basketball league system, Polish league pyramid. The winning team of the final round are crowned the Polish Champions of that season. It began in 1947–48, with the name of I Liga, and was originally organized by the Polish Basketball Federation. The league changed to its current form, beginning with the 1997–98 season, after the Polska Liga Koszykówki SA, PLK SA (the Polish Basketball League Joint-stock company) took control over the league (the PLK SA was created in 1995). Klub Koszykówki Włocławek (in English: Basketball Club Włocławek), or known for sponsorship reasons as Anwil Włocławek, is a Polish professional basketball club, based in Włocławek, Poland. 2017–18 PLK Season
The 2017–18 Polish Basketball League (PLK) season, the Energa Basket Liga for sponsorship reasons, was the 84th season of the Polish Basketball League, the highest professional basketball league in the Poland. The season started on 30 September 2017 and ended 4 June 2018. Anwil Włocławek won its second ever title in club history. Teams Polfarmex Kutno and Siarka Tarnobrzeg were relegated to the I Liga after finishing in the 15th and 16th place in the 2016–17 PLK season. Legia Warsaw promoted to the PLK 15 years later, after winning the I Liga championship. Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski
Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski, also known as Arged BM Slam Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski for sponsorship reasons, is a Polish basketball team, based in Ostrów Wielkopolski. They play in the Polish Basketball League (PLK) since its promotion back in 2015. The club won the Polish national championship in 2021 and the Polish Cup in 2019 and 2022. Shawn Ethelbert King (born June 6, 1982) is a Vincentian professional basketball player, who lastly played for Stal Ostrów Wielkopolski of the Polish Basketball League (PLK). Vladimir Dragičević (Serbian Cyrillic: Владимир Драгичевић; born May 30, 1986) is a retired Montenegrin professional basketball player who last played for Aris of the Greek Basket League. Krzysztof Szubarga (born 5 July 1984) is a Polish professional basketball coach and former player. Standing at 1.78 m (5'10") tall, he mainly plays at the point guard position. 2016–17 PLK Season
The 2016–17 Polish Basketball League was the 83rd season of the highest professional basketball tier in Poland and the 21st since the foundation of the Polish Basketball League. Teams As finishing in one of the two last positions during the two previous seasons, Siarka Tarnobrzeg lost its right to participate in the PLK. However, the club was invited to join the league. As champion of the previous I Liga, Miasto Szkła Krosno was promoted. After the ejection of Śląsk Wrocław, the league was played by 17 teams. The intention of PLK is to reduce the number of clubs in the PLK to 16 and to eliminate contracts by introducing regular promotions and relegations. For this season, three teams will be relegated to the I Liga.
