Aljona Surzhikova
Aljona Surzhikova (russian: Алена Суржикова, et, Aljona Suržikova) is an Estonian director and writer. She is best known for her work on the documentary films ''Not my Land'' and ''Waiting for a Miracle''. Life and career Aljona was born in Tallinn, Estonia. She studied television directing at Tallinn University and documentary making at Saint Petersburg State University for Film Industry and Television. In 2014, Surzhikova won the Best Young Director award from Estonian Cultural Endowment for the film, ''Not My Land''. In 2019, she received the Person of the Year award from Raadio 4 and her TV show project, ''Stories of Success'', was shown on ETV. Eesti Televisioon (ETV) ( en, Estonian Television) is an Estonian free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Estonian Public Broadcasting. It made its first broadcast on 19 July 1955. History Eesti Televisioon (''Estonian Television'') was launched on 19 July 1955. Before that, television broadcasts in Estonia could only be received from Moscow. The very first Estonian-language TV presenter was Ofelia Mikk, whose debut was in the 19 July 1955 test broadcast. Her tenure in television was cut short, because she misspoke out of nervousness. Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival
Ji.hlava International Documentary Film Festival ( cs, Mezinárodní festival dokumentárních filmů Ji.hlava), known as MFDF Ji.hlava or Ji.hlava IDFF, is a documentary film festival in Jihlava, Czech Republic, normally held in late October. The 25th edition of the festival will run from 26 to 31 October 2021. The 2018 festival was attended by over 40,000 visitors from over 80 countries. More than 1,000 film professionals took part in the Ji.hlava Industry Programme, which includes projects such as Emerging Producers, Festival Identity, and Conference Fascinations. In 2020, the festival presented 325 films. The festival was founded in 1997 by a group of Jihlava high school students led by Marek Hovorka, who has been the director of the festival since then.
