Ali Imam (footballer)
Ali Imam ( bn, আলী ইমাম; 12 April 1949 – 14 March 1989) was a former Bangladeshi football player and coach. Playing career Ali Imam began his career as a left-winger at Dhaka Wanderers in 1963, under the guidance of his older brother Ali Hafiz. Nonetheless, Imam suffered continuous injuries throughout his career, keeping him out of action for the next two years. He represented Azad Sporting Club during both the 1966 and 1967 editions of the Aga Khan Gold Cup. During the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War, Imam who moved to Calcutta and sought shelter in the Mohun Bagan clubhouse with the help of Balai Dey. Imam was one of the main founders of the Shadhin Bangla football team. He also played for the team, touring throughout India to help fund the provisional Bangladesh government by handing over all the prize money they earned from 16 exhibition games played during their tour. Ahsanullah Montu ( bn, আহসানউল্লাহ মন্টু; 7 February 1962 – 26 June 2018) was a Bangladeshi football player who played as a center-back. He represented the Bangladesh national football team in the mid 80s, and spent most of his club career playing for Mohammedan SC. Career In 1981, Montu began his career with Farashganj SC in the Dhaka League. He got a place in the Bangladesh U19 team while playing for Brothers Union, in 1984. The following year, he made his senior team debut during President's Gold Cup, while playing for office team Sadharan Bima CSC. Team Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (Team BJMC) was a sporting club in Bangladesh, which is mainly located in the city of Dhaka. The club was formerly known as East Pakistan IDC prior to 1971 and Bangladesh JIC from 1971 until 1978, from which point onward the club has been renamed to Team BJMC. Zakaria Pintoo (born 1 January 1943) is a Bangladeshi retired professional footballer who played as a defender. Career Pintoo played for the Pakistan football team before independence. He served as the captain of Shadhin Bangla Football Team in 1971 and went on to become the first captain of the Bangladesh national football team after the independence of the country. He received the Independence Day Award (1995) in the sports category by the Government of Bangladesh. The Aga Khan Gold Cup was a tournament played in Dhaka, Bangladesh which invited the top club sides from leading football playing nations of Asia to compete.
