Aga Khan Gold Cup
The Aga Khan Gold Cup was a tournament played in Dhaka, Bangladesh which invited the top club sides from leading football playing nations of Asia to compete. Many renowned football pundits regard this competition as a predecessor of AFC Champions League (held for the first time in 1967), since it was the first organized international competition that involved club teams around Asia. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, it was a prestigious tournament among Asian clubs. History When Prince Shah Karim Al Hussaini of Iran, now known as Aga Khan IV, visited Dhaka in 1958, he expressed his interest in starting a major international football club tournament in the region. Makran
Makran ( fa, مكران), mentioned in some sources as Mecran and Mokrān, is the coastal region of Baluchistan. It is a semi-desert coastal strip in Balochistan, in Pakistan and Iran, along the coast of the Gulf of Oman. It extends westwards, from the Sonmiani Bay to the northwest of Karachi in the east, to the fringes of the region of Bashkardia/Bāšgerd in the southern part of the Sistān and Balučestān province of modern Iran. Dhaka Senior Division Football League, also referred as First Division Football League, is the third tier of football league in Bangladesh. Until 2006, it was the top-tier league of the country. Abdul Ghafoor Majna (3 August 1938 – 7 September 2012) was a Pakistani professional footballer, who played as a midfielder. Ghafoor was also the former captain of Pakistan national football team. He was nicknamed the "Pakistani Pele" and "Black Pearl of Pakistan". International career Ghafoor made his national team debut in 1959 after receiving a call-up from coach McBride.
