Ali Al Numairy
Ali Al Numairy (1956 - March 7, 2013) was the named Vice President of the Arab Medical Union, the World Vice President of International College of Surgeons, President ICS UAE Section President of Plastic Surgery Society – Emirates Medical Association. Director General and Head of Plastic & Aesthetic Surgery Dept. Gulf Specialty Hospital – Dubai and former Head of the burn injuries section at Rashid Hospital. Ali Al-Numairy was born in 1956. He was the first specialist plastic and cosmetic surgeon in the United Arab Emirites. Establishing himself Ali's fascination for medicine started at school. Age 14 he experienced the extraction of a tooth and it was necessary for him to take penicillin injections on a daily basis for at least a week. Since then Ali was interested in learning more about surgical procedures; at home he arranged a personal surgical kit and started dissecting rabbits and hens. The International College of Surgeons (ICS) is a global organization dedicated to promoting excellence of surgeons and surgical specialists worldwide. It was founded in 1935 by Max Thorek and is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Rashid Hospital
Rashid Hospital (in Arabic: ) is a 786-bed general medical/surgical hospital in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, and is a part of the Dubai Health Authority. Built in 1973, it is the city's second oldest hospital, and is located on the Oud Metha Road adjacent to Dubai Creek. The new Trauma Centre at the hospital was completed in mid-2006 after a 7-year period since it was proposed. It can handle 7 ambulances simultaneously. The complex includes a medical library. In July 2006, the DOHMS (now DHA) announced a US$272 million (AED1 billion) plan to build a new 500–700 bed 30,000 m2 hospital within available space in the current complex. The Rashid Hospital deals with some of the heaviest volume of major trauma in the world with on average 3 to 5 cases of severe polytrauma presenting each day.
