Alessandro Volpe (born 4 January 1983) is an Italian footballer who plays as a midfielder. Career Born in Rome, capital of Lazio region and Italy, Volpe started his career at S.S. Lazio. In July 2004 Volpe left for Serie B club Ternana. In 2005, he was signed by Olbia. After a season in 2005β06 Serie C2, Volpe was signed by Empoli F.C. but loaned back to Sardinia for 2006β07 Serie C2. In 2007 Olbia re-signed half of the registration rights, and bought outright in June 2008. Volpe left for Lanciano in mid-2008. After half season in 2008β09 Lega Pro Prima Divisione, Volpe returned to Olbia. On 31 August 2009 Volpe left for Monopoli. The 2006β07 Serie C2 was the football (soccer) league season of Italian Serie C2 for the years 2006 and 2007. It was divided into two phases: the regular season, played from September 3, 2006 to May 13, 2007 and the playoff phase. Once the regular season was over, teams placed 2nd to 5th entered a ''playoff'' to determine the second team in each division to be promoted to Serie C1. At the same time, teams placed 14th to 17th entered a ''playout'' for the right to remain in Serie C2 the following season. Lega Pro Prima Divisione was the third highest football league in Italy. It consisted of 33 teams, divided geographically into two divisions of 16 and 17 teams for group A and B respectively. Until 2008 it was known as Serie C1. Before the 1978β79 season there were only three leagues of professional football in Italy, the third being Serie C. In 1978, it was decided to split Serie C into Serie C1 and Serie C2. Serie C2, the fourth highest professional league in the Italian system, was also renamed in 2008 and was called Lega Pro Seconda Divisione. Co-ownership is a system whereby two football clubs own the contract of a player jointly, although the player is only registered to play for one club. It is not a universal system, but is used in some countries, including Argentina, Chile and Uruguay. It was formerly commonplace in Italy, though the practice has now been abolished there. This type of deal differs from third-party ownership, in that in the latter, the player's contract is owned by a non-footballing entity, such as a management company.
