Alec Cowan
Alexander Cowan (born November 19, 1996) is a Canadian cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Continental team . On January 2, 2017, Cowan was awarded Pedal Magazine's 2016 Cycling Award for Best Canadian Road Senior/U23 Cyclist (Male or Female). Career In 2015 and 2016, Cowan rode for Team Race Clean, racing under the banner of Cycling Canada's anti-doping program. The program was launched in 2015 by Cycling Canada as Team NextGen. The team was built off of a select roster of Canadian under-23 riders who train and compete together throughout the year. Cowan placed 12th in the under-23 time trial at the 2016 UCI Road World Championships, the best result by a Canadian in the event since David Veilleux in 2009. Cowan placed sixth in the 2016 Canadian National Time Trial Championships in a field that included Hugo Houle, Svein Tuft, Michael Woods, Rob Britton and Ryan Roth. Michael Woods (cyclist)
Michael Russell Woods (born 12 October 1986) is a Canadian racing cyclist, who rides for UCI WorldTeam and is the first person to break four minutes in the mile and complete the Tour de France. Career Athletics career Woods' first sport was ice hockey and his childhood ambition was to play as a left wing for the Toronto Maple Leafs. Prior to becoming a cyclist, Woods was a promising middle-distance runner, setting Canadian national junior records in the mile and 3000 metres in 2005, as well as taking the gold medal in the 1500 metres at the 2005 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships. However, he suffered a recurring stress fracture in his left foot, exacerbated by excessive training and racing, resulting in his running his last race in 2007. Cascade Cycling Classic
The Cascade Cycling Classic was the longest running elite road bicycle racing stage race in the United States (1980–2019), with 2018 being the only year the race was not held. The race took place in the Central Oregon region and was based in Bend, Oregon. It was a regular fixture for most of North America's top cyclists and teams. Owned and managed by the Cascade Cycling Classic Youth Foundation, former pro cyclist and two time National Road Champion Bart Bowen was both the Foundation's executive director and the Classic's race director. The ATB Tour of Alberta was a Canadian bicycle stage race, which raced across the province of Alberta. It was sanctioned by Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) and was part of the UCI America Tour. It was classified as a 2.1 race, making it one of the highest rated races on the tour. The inaugural tour featured a prologue and five stages, and was held September 3–8, 2013. Tour de Beauce is a men's elite professional road bicycle racing multi-day event held each June in the Beauce region of Quebec, Canada since 1986. It is the oldest stage-race in North America, and is a Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI)-rated 2.2 continental circuit stage race on the UCI America Tour. The Queen Stage of the Tour de Beauce features the ascension of the iconic Mont-Mégantic National Park, a 6-km climb averaging 10% and peaking at 18% on the highest elevation road in the Province of Quebec.
