Priaulx League
The Priaulx League is the senior football league on the island of Guernsey, and is run by the Guernsey Football League Management LBG, (prior to 2016 the Guernsey Football Association). Although the league is affiliated with the English FA, it does not form a part of the English football league system. The winners of the Priaulx League go on to play the champions of the Jersey Combination for the Upton Park Trophy. History The competition was first held in 1893; it is named in honour of O. Priaulx of Bury St. Edmunds, who donated £5 to purchase a trophy. Alderney (; french: Aurigny ; Auregnais: ) is the northernmost of the inhabited Channel Islands. It is part of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, a British Crown dependency. It is long and wide. The island's area is , making it the third-largest island of the Channel Islands, and the second largest in the Bailiwick. Alderney Official Football Team
The Alderney official football team is the official football team representing Alderney (the third largest of the Channel Islands) in non-FIFA international football. They play their home matches at Arsenal Ground (Saint Anne), Arsenal Ground. They are not affiliated with FIFA or UEFA. The team plays in the Muratti Vase, a cup competition started in 1905, in which the Channel Islands of Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey play against each other. Alderney have only won the competition once, in 1920. The Muratti format requires Alderney to play a semi-final match against the other islands on a rota basis but always with Alderney being the home side. The winner of the match goes on to play the remaining island in the final. Alderney also play the occasional game outside the Muratti competition including taking part in the Island Games football tournament in 2003 in which they finished 11th out of a pool of 15. Muratti Vase
The Muratti Vase is an annual men's and women's football competition, inaugurated in 1905, between teams representing the Channel Islands of Alderney, Guernsey and Jersey. The larger islands of Guernsey and Jersey dominate the competition, with Alderney's sole match final championship victory occurring in 1920. History Since its inception, the competition has been interrupted only between 1915–1919 and 1940–1946 due to the First and Second World Wars. The teams wear their island colours of green and white (Guernsey) and red and white (Jersey) and blue and white (Alderney). The competition is sponsored by Hepburns Insurance and now includes Ladies', under 21s and an under 18s competition for men. The tournament consists of a semi-final and a final. The Island Games (currently known as the NatWest International Island Games for sponsorship reasons) are biennial international multi-sports events organised by the International Island Games Association (IIGA). Competitor teams each represent different island communities (with one team from the peninsula of Gibraltar) which are IIGA members. Currently all competitor teams represent non-sovereign territories of European nations—some within European waters and some further overseas. The most recent edition was the 2019, which took place in Gibraltar with around 2,000 competitors from 22 islands or island groups participating in 14 sports.
