Albert Heyn
Albert Heijn is the largest supermarket chain in the Netherlands with a market share of 34.8% in 2020. It was founded in 1887, and has been part of Ahold Delhaize since 2016. History The chain was founded on 27 May 1887, when Albert Heijn bought a grocery store from his father Jan Heijn in Oostzaan. In the following years, Heijn opened other locations in several cities and in 1899, he opened a central warehouse in Zaandam. From 1895, Heijn started roasting his own brand of coffee in a laundry room in his Oostzaan location and in 1910, several other self-produced items were added, including confectionery, cakes and pastry. Until 1913, these products were produced in an old town house in Zaandam, but the company built a professional factory on this spot in 1913. In 1920, all enterprises were combined in the ''Maatschappij tot Exploitatie der Fabrieken en Handelszaken''. Anton Jurgens, one of the founders of Unilever, took a 50% share within the new company. Brasschaat () is a municipality located in Flanders, one of the three regions of Belgium, and in the Flemish province of Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the town of Brasschaat proper. In business, a takeover is the purchase of one company (the ''target'') by another (the ''acquirer'' or ''bidder''). Zaanstreek
The Zaan () is a small river in the province of North Holland in the northwestern Netherlands and the name of a district through which it runs. Wormerveer
Wormerveer is a town in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Zaanstad, and lies about 13 km northwest of Amsterdam. Wormerveer developed in the 15th century on the west bank of the Zaan river. It started to industrialise with windmills in the 17th century, however none of the windmills exist any more. The Dutch Reformed church was built in 1639 to replace the medieval church which was destroyed in 1574 by Spanish troops. Simon de Wit (24 August 1912 – 2 March 1976) was a Dutch rower and the chief executive of the supermarket chain Simon de Wit. De Wit was born in 1912 in Zaandam. His grandfather, also Simon de Wit, was the founder of the supermarket chain Simon de Wit. His father, Maarten de Wit, represented the Netherlands at the 1928 Summer Olympics in sailing. De Wit competed at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin with the men's coxed four where they came fourth. The same team also competed as a coxed four, with Gerard Hallie as coxswain, and they were eliminated in round one. Four of the five coxed four members remained together and won silver at the 1937 European Rowing Championships in Amsterdam.
