Albert Dyment
Albert Edward Dyment (February 23, 1869 – May 12, 1944) was a Canadian politician and businessman. Born at Lynden, County of Wentworth, Ontario, the son of Nathaniel Dyment, of English descent, and Annie McRae, of Scottish origin, he was educated at Barrie Collegiate Institute and at Upper Canada College. Dyment was a prosperous manufacturer and dealer in lumber, based in Thessalon, Ontario. He was elected for Algoma to the House of Commons in 1896 and in 1900 and for Algoma East in 1904 as a Liberal. He was Honorary Lieutenant-Colonel of the 97th Regiment in 1907. In 1892, he married Edith Francis Chapman. He served on the town council for Barrie in 1892. Barrie, Ontario
Barrie is a city in Southern Ontario, Canada, about north of Toronto. The city is within Simcoe County and located along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay, the western arm of Lake Simcoe. Wentworth County, Ontario
Wentworth County, area , is a historic county in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was created in 1816 as part of the Gore District (1816-1849) in what was then Upper Canada and later Canada West (1841-1867). It was named in honour of Sir John Wentworth, the last royal governor of colonial New Hampshire, lieutenant-governor of Nova Scotia (1792 to 1808) and an intimate friend of William Jarvis, the first provincial secretary of Upper Canada. The county originally consisted of seven townships that formerly belonged to Haldimand, Lincoln and York Counties. Between 1850 and 1854, Wentworth County and Halton County were briefly joined for government purposes as the United Counties of Wentworth and Halton although for administrative purposes, they remained distinct. In 1973, Wentworth County was replaced by the Regional Municipality of Hamilton-Wentworth. George Hugh Macdonell
George Hugh Macdonell (February 10, 1851 – April 1, 1920) was a contractor and political figure in Ontario, Canada. He represented Algoma in the House of Commons of Canada from 1891 to 1896 as a Conservative member. He was born in Toronto, Canada West, the son of Duncan Macdonell, and was educated in Williamstown and at Bishop's College in Lennoxville, Quebec. He continued his education in the military schools of Montreal and served with Colonel Garnet Wolseley in the Red River Expedition. Macdonell operated a warehouse in Montreal for several years. He was then hired by contractors working on the Canadian Pacific Railway, later going into business on his own and moving to Port Arthur. In 1876, Macdonell married Eliza McCracken. Macdonell was also involved in mining and was an insurance agent. Macdonell was mayor of Port Arthur from 1886 to 1888. He ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the Ontario assembly in 1890.
