Albatrosh
Albatrosh (established 2006 in Skien, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz duo performing their own musical compositions described as dense and dynamic. Biography Albatrosh has played a series of concerts at home and abroad since its inception, including at festivals Vossajazz, Moldejazz, DølaJazz, Oslo Jazzfestival, Südtirol Jazz Festival, 12 Points! (Dublin), North Sea Jazz Festival and the London Jazz Festival. The band members have distinguished themselves as key players on the young Norwegian jazz scene. Both have a background in jazz education at Trondheim Musikkonsevatorium (NTNU) and Norges Musikkhøgskole. Eyolf Dale
Eyolf Dale (born 5 March 1985) is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer. Career Dale started playing piano at the age of 6 years, and shortly after started taking lessons. After finishing his Examen artium on the Music program at Skien videregående skole (2001–04), he worked as a freelance pianist, conductor and arranger in the Grenland area until in 2005 he started his graduate studies in Performing jazz and improvisation at Norwegian Academy of Music (2005–09). There he studied under such as Misha Alperin, Bjørn Kruse and Jon Balke, and completed the master's program (2009–11). He is working as a musician and composer, solo and in cooperation with other Norwegian and European musicians. André Roligheten
André Roligheten (born 2 January 1985) is a Norwegian jazz musician (saxophone) and composer, known from a series of recordings and bands like Albatrosh and Team Hegdal. He has also played with musicians like Andrew D'Angelo, Theo Bleckmann, Django Bates, John Edwards, Paul Lovens, Axel Dörner, Robin Hayward, Raymond Strid, Bugge Wesseltoft, Mathias Eick, Ola Kvernberg, Paal Nilssen-Love and Per Zanussi. Career Roligheten was born in Skien, Norway, and started playing the saxophone at an early age. At only 8 years old he picked up the horn and soon figured it out. He earned a Bachelor's degree from the Jazzprogeram at Trondheim Musikkonsevatorium, under mentors like John Pål Inderberg and Erling Aksdal. Skien
Skien () is a city and municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county in Norway. In modern times it is regarded as part of the traditional region of Grenland, although historically it belonged to Grenmar/Skiensfjorden, while Grenland referred the Norsjø area and Bø. Trondheim Jazz Orchestra (TJO) (established 1999 in Trondheim, Norway) is an orchestral project based in Trondheim, and closely related to both the Midtnorsk Jazzsenter (MNJ - Mid Norwegian Jazz Center) and Jazz Line at the Trøndelag Conservatory of Music ( NTNU). Biography During the 1990s the orchestra was a plain conservatory-band (Konsen Big Band). In 2000 the name of the band was changed to TJO. Saxophone
The saxophone (often referred to colloquially as the sax) is a type of single-reed woodwind instrument with a conical body, usually made of brass.
