Bala Cynwyd ( ) is a community in Lower Merion Township, Pennsylvania. SS Fredericksburg (1958)
SS ''Fredericksburg'' was a single-hulled T5-S-12b oil tanker, originally named the ''Eagle Courier''. The ship was built at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi as hull number 1030 and delivered on 10 October 1958. The ship was scrapped in Chittagong, Bangladesh on 16 April 2004. From delivery in 1958 until 1976, the ship was operated by Eagle Carriers. In 1976, she was bought by Keystone Shipping Company and renamed ''Fredericksburg''. She continued to operate as a coastal tanker until 2004. ''Fredericksburg'' was for some time the oldest tanker in the U.S. fleet, and its age showed. MV ''Roger Blough'' is a ship built in 1972 by American Ship Building Company in Lorain, Ohio. She serves as a lake freighter on the Great Lakes. The ship is owned by Great Lakes Fleet, Inc. and is named for the former chairman of U.S. Steel, Roger Blough. Service history The ship's launch was originally planned for July 1971. However, on June 24, 1971, the ship suffered a major engine room fire which killed four and caused serious damage. Sea trials and delivery were delayed by a year to June 1972. The fifth USNS ''Potomac'' (T-AO-181) was a United States Navy oiler in non-commissioned service with the Military Sea Transportation Service, later Military Sealift Command, from 1976 to 1983.
