Al Hilal (district)
Al Hilal ( ar, الهلال) a is multipurpose district in central Doha. It is home to the Doha Mall, the city's first shopping centre. Prior to the 2010 census, Zone 41 comprised Al Hilal West, but the zone was later transferred to Nuaija. Many sizable residences are situated here, and the Embassy of India, Doha formerly had its headquarters here. Qatar
Qatar (, ; ar, قطر, Qaṭar ; local vernacular pronunciation: ), officially the State of Qatar,) is a country in Western Asia. It occupies the Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East; it shares its sole land border with Saudi Arabia to the south, with the rest of its territory surrounded by the Persian Gulf. Municipalities Of Qatar
Since 2015, Qatar has been divided into eight municipalities. In 2004, a new municipality, Al Daayen, was created under Resolution No. 13, formed from parts of Umm Salal and Al Khawr; at the same time, Al Ghuwariyah was merged with Al Khawr; Al Jumaliyah was merged with Ar Rayyan; Jarayan al Batnah was split between Al Rayyan and Al Wakrah; and Mesaieed was merged with Al Wakrah. In 2014, the western city of Al-Shahaniya split off from Al Rayyan Municipality to form its own municipality. Ad-Dawhah ( ar, الدوحة, ' or ''ad-Dōḥa'', ) is the one of the eight municipalities of Qatar. It is the most populous municipality with a population of 956,457, and is the municipality of Qatar's capital city, Doha. Etymology According to the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the name "Doha" originated from the Arabic language, Arabic term "dohat", which means "roundness". This name is derived from the rounded bays surrounding the area's coastline. Zones Of Qatar
In the administrative divisions of Qatar, zones are the second-highest level of government after municipalities of Qatar, municipalities. As of the 2015 census, there were 98 zones. However, several of these zones are not currently in use. Over the years, numerous changes in zones have taken place. For instance, in the 2010 census, Zone 69 was transferred to Al Daayen Municipality, Zones 50 and 58 were added to Ad-Dawhah (municipality), Ad-Dawhah Municipality, and part of Zone 74 was merged with Zone 70 of Al Daayen Municipality. Doha
Doha ( ar, الدوحة, ad-Dawḥa or ''ad-Dōḥa'') is the capital city and main financial hub of Qatar. Nuaija
Nuaija ( ar, نعيجة, Nu‘ayjah) is a district in Qatar, located in the municipality of Ad Dawhah. One of Nuaija's zones, Zone 41, was formerly known as Al Hilal West but was incorporated into Nuaija as of the 2010 census. Municipal authorities are developing district as a major mixed-use hub for south-central Doha. Etymology Deriving its name from the Arabic word ''naaja'' meaning "female sheep", (this incorrect) the area was so named because a well in the area was said to yield water as sweet as sheep's milk. Old Airport (Doha)
Old Airport ( ar, المطار العتيق; also referred to as Al Matar Al Qadeem) is an area of Doha, Qatar. The district is located close to the site of Doha's old international airport servicing Qatar before the construction of the Hamad International Airport. Running through the district is Al Matar Al Qadeem Street (known in English as Old Airport Street), around which many businesses and retailers cater to the residents of the area. The first mall constructed in Qatar is also located within the district, next to the congested Najma roundabout. History The Qatar government decided to create the airport in the 1900s, and later decided to create a bigger airport. Doha International Airport
Doha International Airport ( ar, مطار الدوحة الدولي) is an airport in Doha, Qatar. It was Qatar's commercial international airport until Hamad International Airport opened on 27 May 2014. While all scheduled commercial traffic ceased, the airport site and existing runway is still used by Qatar Emiri Air Force, Qatar Amiri Flight, Rizon Jet, Gulf Helicopters and Qatar Aeronautical College. It also acts as a state/diplomatic airport catering to both Qatar Amiri Flight (which is based at the airport) and state visit flights. Considered to be one of Doha's older districts, the bulk of Najma's commercial and office spaces are located along the arterial roads of Airport Street, C Ring Road and B Ring Road. The Supreme Education Council ( ar, المجلس الأعلى للتعليم, abbreviated SEC) is a Qatari government agency responsible for education in Qatar. It was established in November 2002. It is responsible for overseeing and directing the education system in Qatar and, subsequently, all of the country's independent schools. At the time of its founding, it replaced the Ministry of Education, which has since had its responsibilities reduced to providing support for the country's private schools.
