Akosombo Agreement
Akosombo is a small town in the south of the Asuogyaman District, Eastern Region, Ghana with notable street names of some African Countries in the sub-region like Ghana, Congo, Namibia, Lagos-town, Freetown etc. It is preoccupied by people of diverse ethnic background like the Akans, Ewe, Krobo and other ethics. Akosombo is north of the Adomi Bridge at Atimpoku, which is a 3 to 5 min drive away. Akosombo Dam The Ghana town of Akosombo is the site of the Akosombo Dam. Close to Akosombo is the Asuogyaman district capital Atimpoku. It's a 4-minute drive from Akosombo to Atimpoku. Akosombo Dam
The Akosombo Dam, also known as the Volta Dam, is a hydroelectric dam on the Volta River in southeastern Ghana in the Akosombo gorge and part of the Volta River Authority. The construction of the dam flooded part of the Volta River Basin and led to the subsequent creation of Lake Volta. Lake Volta is the largest man-made lake in the world by surface area. It covers , which is 3.6% of Ghana's land area. Flag Of Ghana
The national flag of Ghana consists of a horizontal triband of Red, Gold, and Green. It was designed in replacement of the British Gold Coast's Blue Ensign. The flag was adopted upon the independence of the Dominion of Ghana on March 6, 1957. It was designed the same year by Theodosia Okoh, a renowned Ghanaian artist. Asuogyaman District
Asuogyaman District is one of the thirty-three districts in Eastern Region, Ghana. Originally created as an ordinary district assembly in 1988, which it was created from the former Kaoga District Council. The district assembly is located in the eastern part of Eastern Region and has Atimpoku as its capital town. Akosombo Dam Asuogyaman District is the location of a hydroelectric dam in South Ghana, the Akosombo Dam, in the town of Akosombo. Adomi Bridge
The Adomi Bridge (originally the Volta Bridge) is a latticed steel arch suspension bridge crossing the Volta River at Atimpoku in Ghana in West Africa. It is the first permanent bridge to span the Volta River, which drains south into the Gulf of Guinea, and is Ghana's longest suspension bridge. It provides the main road passage, just south of the Akosombo Dam, between the Eastern Region and the Volta Region of Ghana. It was opened in 1957 by Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's first president. Atimpoku is a small town in the Eastern Region of Ghana and located along the Volta River. It is the capital of the Asuogyaman District, a district in the Eastern Region of Ghana.
