Air Highnesses is a cargo airline from Armenia. The airline commenced operations in 2008. The airline has its main hub at Zvartnots International Airport and its fleet consists of one Ilyushin Il-76 aircraft. Fleet Incidents and accidents * 30 November 2012 - Freighter aircraft bearing registration EK-76300 ( Ilyushin Il-76T), owned and operated by Air Highnesses (on behalf of Congolese cargo airline Aéro-Service) crashed at Maya-Maya Airport while landing, killing five crew members, one passenger and 26 people on the ground (a total of 32 fatalities). 14 people on the ground were injured in the accident. Zvartnots International Airport
Zvartnots International Airport ( hy, Զվարթնոց միջազգային օդանավակայան, translit=Zvart'nots' mijazgayin ōdanavakayan) is located near Zvartnots, west of Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia. It acts as the main international airport of Armenia and is Yerevan's main international transport hub. It is the busiest airport in the country. History The airport was opened in 1961, and following a design competition held in 1970, M. Khachikyan, A. Tarkhanyan, S. Qalashyan, L. Cherkezyan and M. Baghdasaryan won the right to design the first terminal building. The Ilyushin Il-76 (russian: Илью́шин Ил-76; NATO reporting name: Candid) is a multi-purpose, fixed-wing, four-engine turbofan strategic airlifter designed by the Soviet Union's Ilyushin design bureau. It was first planned as a commercial freighter in 1967, as a replacement for the Antonov An-12. It was designed to deliver heavy machinery to remote, poorly served areas. 2012 Aéro-Service Ilyushin Il-76 Crash
On 30 November 2012, an Ilyushin Il-76 freighter aircraft, operated by the Armenian cargo airline Air Highnesses on behalf of Congolese cargo airline Aéro-Service, crashed on landing at Brazzaville, Republic of the Congo, killing all six occupants and 26 people on the ground. The aircraft was on a domestic flight from Pointe Noire Airport to Maya-Maya Airport and was attempting to land on runway 5L in heavy rain when it clipped high trees about from the runway threshold, disintegrating over . The aircraft caught fire and was destroyed, killing all five Armenian crew and an Armenian policeman present on board, as well as 26 local residents, injuring a further 14. Maya-Maya Airport
Maya–Maya Airport is the international airport of Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of the Congo. Facilities In 2010, a new long runway and a new terminal with three air bridges were opened.
