Aijaz Siddiqi
Aijaz ( ur, ) Siddiqi (1911–1978) was an Urdu writer and poet. He was the son of the famous Urdu poet, Seemab Akbarabadi. He was born in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. After having founded ''Qasr-ul-Adab'' in 1923, Seemab Akbarabadi had in the year 1930 started publication of a literary journal in Urdu from Agra titled Shair; he was its first editor. A few years later i.e. in 1935, in order to concentrate on the other than more important activities of ''Qasr-ul- Adab'', he had handed over the charge of this magazine to Aijaz Siddiqi who carrying forward the tradition of his father remained its editor till 1978 long after the publication of Shair was shifted from Agra to Mumbai in 1947 and Seemab Akbarabadi had in 1951 died in Karachi. Agra (, ) is a city on the banks of the Yamuna river in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, about south-east of the national capital New Delhi and 330 km west of the state capital Lucknow. Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh (; , 'Northern Province') is a state in northern India. Shair
''Shair'' ( ur, ) is the oldest Urdu-language literary magazine, based in Mumbai, India. It was launched in Agra in 1930 by the famous poet Seemab Akbarabadi. Its editor-in-chief is the poet, writer and journalist Iftikhar Imam Siddiqui, and the assistant editors are his two brothers, Noaman Siddiqui and Hamid Iqbal Siddiqui. History ''Shair'' was founded on 14 February 1930, in Agra, India, by Iftikhar Imam Siddiqui's grandfather Seemab Akbarabadi, with the purpose of providing guidance and a platform to help new poets be published. After the partition of India, Akbarabadi migrated to Pakistan in 1948 and never returned. Aijaz Siddiqui, the second son of Akbarabadi and the father of Iftikhar Imam Siddiqui, took charge of the magazine. Krishan Chander
Krishan Chander (23 November 1914 – 8 March 1977) was an Indian Urdu and Hindi writer of short stories and novels. Some of his works have also been translated in English. He was a prolific writer, penning over 20 novels, 30 collections of short stories and scores of radio plays in Urdu, and later, after Partition of India, partition in 1947, took to writing in Hindi as well. He also wrote screen-plays for Bollywood movies to supplement his meagre income as an author of satirical stories. Krishan Chander's novels (including the classic: ''Ek Gadhe Ki Sarguzasht'', 'Autobiography of a Donkey') have been translated into over 16 Indian languages and some foreign languages, including English.
