Afghanistan At The Asian Games
Afghanistan is a member of the South Asian Zone of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), and has participated in the Asian Games since their inception in 1951. The Afghanistan National Olympic Committee, established in 1935 and recognised by the International Olympic Committee in 1936, is the National Olympic Committee for Afghanistan. Afghanistan was one of the first five founding members of the Asian Games Federation on 13 February 1949, in New Delhi; the organisation was disbanded on 26 November 1981 and replaced by the Olympic Council of Asia. Membership of Olympic Council of Asia Afghanistan is a member of the South Asian Zone of the Olympic Council of Asia, the governing body of all the sports in Asia, recognised by the International Olympic Committee as the continental association of Asia. National Olympic Committee of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, former Afghanistan National Olympic Committee ( fa, کمیته ملی المپیک افغانستان, IOC code: AFG) is the National Olympic Committee representing Afghanistan. Nazar Mohammad Mutmaeen is the current president of the committee as of 2018. The Olympic committee was created in 1920, but was recognised in 1936, in time for Afghanistan’s Olympic debut at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of sports in Asia, currently with 45 member National Olympic Committees. South Asian Games
The South Asian Games (SAG or SA Games), formerly known as the South Asian Federation Games (SAFG or SAF Games), is a quadrennial multi-sport event held among the athletes from South Asia. The governing body of these games is South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC), formed in 1983. Currently, the SAOC comprises 7 member countries, namely Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Asian Games Federation
The Asian Games Federation (AGF) was the governing body of sports in Asia from 1949 to 1982. The federation was disbanded on 16 November 1982 in New Delhi and succeeded by the Olympic Council of Asia. The AGF was responsible for the organisation of the Asian Games from 1951 to 1982. A National Olympic Committee (NOC) is a national constituent of the worldwide Olympic movement.
