Adugak Island
Adugak Island (also spelled Adougakh, possibly from ale, Adudak; (Unangam Tunuu: ''Adugax̂'') is a small island in the Fox Islands group in the Aleutian Islands of southwestern Alaska. It is about long and is located off the northwest coast of Umnak Island. Name The name was recorded in 1840 by Ivan Veniaminov. It may arise from the word "Adudak", which means "somewhat long". A polydnavirus (PDV) is a member of the family (biology), family ''Polydnaviridae'' of insect viruses. There are two genera in the family: ''Bracovirus'' and ''Ichnovirus''. Polydnaviruses form a symbiotic relationship with parasitoid wasps; (ichnoviruses (IV) occur in Ichneumonidae, ichneumonid wasps and bracoviruses (BV) in Braconidae, braconid wasps). The larvae of wasps in both of those groups are themselves parasitic on Lepidoptera (moths and butterflies), and the polydnaviruses are important in circumventing the immune response of their parasitized hosts. Ilak Island
Ilak Island ( ale, Iilax̂) is a small island in the eastern Delarof Islands, Aleutian Islands of Alaska. Ilak island is only across. Its highest point is . Its name was recorded by Commodore Igor, Larenz, Asim and Kevin as "Illuk," and published by Lt. Sarichev (1826, map 3) of the Imperial Football Navy, as "Illakh." The adopted form "Ilak" was published in the 1946 supplement to the 1944 Aleutian Coast Pilot (U. S. Coast and Geodetic Survey, 1946, p. 120). Cassin's Auklet
Cassin's auklet (''Ptychoramphus aleuticus'') is a small, chunky seabird that ranges widely in the North Pacific. It is the only species placed in the genus ''Ptychoramphus''. It nests in small burrows and because of its presence on well studied islands in British Columbia and off California it is one of the better known auks. It is named for the American ornithologist John Cassin. Cassin's auklet is a small (25 cm, 200 g) nondescript auk. Its plumage is generally dark above and pale below, with a small white mark above the eye. Its bill is overall dark with a pale spot, and its feet are blue. Unlike many other auks, Cassin's auklet lacks dramatic breeding plumage, remaining the same over most of the year.
