Adolphe Choler
Adolphe Joseph Choler (1821 – 19 January 1889) was a French playwright and librettist who was born in and died in Paris. He was Saint-Agnan Choler's brother. His plays were presented on the most important Parisian venues of the 19th century: Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin, Théâtre des Variétés, Théâtre du Palais-Royal, Théâtre du Gymnase-dramatique etc. He was managing director of the Théâtre du Palais-Royal from 1868 to 1879. A playwright or dramatist is a person who writes plays. Etymology The word "play" is from Middle English pleye, from Old English plæġ, pleġa, plæġa ("play, exercise; sport, game; drama, applause"). The word "wright" is an archaic English term for a craftsman or builder (as in a wheelwright or cartwright). The words combine to indicate a person who has "wrought" words, themes, and other elements into a dramatic form—a play. (The homophone with "write" is coincidental.) The first recorded use of the term "playwright" is from 1605, 73 years before the first written record of the term "dramatist". Hippolyte Cogniard
The Cogniard brothers were two French brothers who worked as playwrights and theatre directors, producing an incalculable number of vaudevilles, reviews, féeries and operettas. The elder of the two was Charles-Théodore or Théodore Cogniard (30 April 1806 - 13 May 1872) and the younger was Jean-Hippolyte or Hippolyte Cogniard (28 November 1807 – 6 February 1882) Both brothers were born and died in Paris. Clément Philibert Léo Delibes (; 21 February 1836 – 16 January 1891) was a French Romantic composer, best known for his ballets and operas. His works include the ballets ''Coppélia'' (1870) and '' Sylvia'' (1876) and the opera ''Lakmé'' (1883), which includes the well-known "Flower Duet". Pierre-Paul-Désiré Siraudin (18 December 1812 – 8 September 1883) was a French playwright and librettist. He also used the pen names Paul de Siraudin de Sancy, Paul Siraudin de Sancy and M.
