Abraxas (band)
Abraxas is a Czech rock band formed in 1976 after the breakup of the group Abraam. The band is led by guitarist and composer Slávek Janda, who is the only member to have remained with Abraxas from its formation until the present day. Founding member Ivan Sekyra died in June 2012 at the age of 59. History Early years: 1976—1988 The original lineup of Abraxas consisted of Slávek Janda on guitar and vocals, Miroslav Imrich (vocals), Ivan Sekyra (guitar), Jiří Cendra (keyboards), Antonín Smrčka (bass guitar), and Ivan Pelíšek (drums). The band's early inspiration came from the likes of Pink Floyd, and their sound and stage shows leaned towards Czech new wave by the early 1980s. In 1981, bass player Vladimír Padrůněk briefly joined the band. He was replaced by Michal Ditrich. The same year, the band released their first studio album, titled ''Box''. Supraphon
Supraphon Music Publishing is a Czech record label, oriented mainly towards publishing classical music and popular music, with an emphasis on Czech and Slovak composers. History The Supraphon name was first registered as a trademark in 1932. The name was used for the label of domestic albums produced for export by Ultraphon company. Post World War II Ultraphon was nationalized and changed its name to Gramofonové závody. In 1961 the name was changed to Gramofonové závody – Supraphon and later just to Supraphon in 1969. In Czechoslovakia, it was one of the three major state-owned labels, the other two being Panton and Opus. Ivan Sekyra
Ivan Sekyra (1 October 1952 − 30 June 2012) was a Czech rock guitarist, singer, songwriter, director, and screenwriter. He learned to play the violin as a child. In 1978, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Life Sciences in Prague. In 1976, he co-founded the group Abraxas. Later, he was a member of Projektil and Drakar. He eventually founded the heavy metal band Silent Garden. Vladimír Padrůněk
Vladimír Padrůněk (17 February 1952 – 30 August 1991) was a Czech jazz and rock bass guitarist. He is known for his work with the groups Jazz Q, Energit (band), Energit, Etc (band), Etc..., Abraxas (Czech band), Abraxas, and others. Biography Padrůněk began playing bass guitar at the age of fourteen. Before that, he studied the violin at school. His first major musical engagement was in the group Exit, in 1969–1970. This is where he first met Luboš Andršt and Slávek Janda. His fame increased dramatically in the early 1970s as he began to play with the band Jazz Q, which was led by Martin Kratochvíl. In 1973, he recorded two albums with Jazz Q - ''Pozorovatelna'' (Watchtower) and ''Symbiosis''. The band planned to tour overseas, but due to his father's previous involvement in the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, political upheaval of 1968, Padrůněk was forbidden to travel to non-communist countries. New Wave Music

Lucerna Music Bar
Lucerna Music Bar is a concert club in Prague, Czech Republic. It is housed within Lucerna Palace. Lucerna Music Bar is one of the stages used in the Prague International Jazz Festival and the AghaRTA Prague Jazz Festival. It was used for the Václav Havel Tribute Concert. The venue, opened in 1995, has played an important role in giving exposure to many Czech bands. Today, it holds discos on Friday and Saturday nights, and during the week, it mainly hosts live music. Michal Pavlíček
Michal Pavlíček (born 14 February 1956) is a Czech guitarist, musical composer, singer, lyricist, and producer. He is considered to be an accomplished guitarist and holds numerous awards. Career Pavlíček, a FAMU graduate, broke onto the music scene in the mid-1970s and made his name as part of the rock band Pražský výběr, who were officially banned in communist Czechoslovakia. Pavlíček is also the founder of the bands Stromboli and Big Heads, and since 1992 has been a member of BSP, together with Kamil Střihavka and Ota Balage.
