Abdus Salam (editor)
Abdus Salam ( bn, আবদুস সালাম; 2 August 1910 – 13 February 1977) was a newspaper editor of Bangladesh. He edited ''The Pakistan Observer'', which was later renamed ''The Bangladesh Observer'' after the liberation of Bangladesh. Early life Salam was born on 2 August 1910 in South Dharmapur, Chhagalnaiya, Feni. He graduated from Feni High School in 1926 and from Chittagong College in 1928. He completed his BA and MA from Presidency College Calcutta. After a brief period as a Professor of English at Feni College, he served in many government departments during the British and Pakistan period, including Income Tax, Civil Supplies and Audit but left government service in 1949. Career Salam was the editor of ''The Pakistan Observer'' from 1949 to 1972. There was a break in the distribution of the newspaper from 1952 to 1954, when it was banned by the government. Chhagalnaiya Upazila
Chhagalnaiya ( bn, ছাগলনাইয়া) is an upazila of Feni District in the Division of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Chhagalnaiya lies in the southern part of the district, bordering Tripura and Mirsharai Upazila of Chittagong. It is rich in history and culture. Obaidul Huq
Obaidul Huq (31 October 1911 – 13 October 2007) was a Bangladeshi journalist, cinematographer, playwright and writer. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1981 by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life and education Huq was born to Bazlul Huq Khan and Anjuman Nessa on 31 October 1911 at Feni in Noakhali. His father was a lawyer at Feni and a Member of the Bengal Provincial Legislative Assembly. Huq did his master's degree in philosophy and psychology in 1934 and obtained a law degree in 1936 from the University of Dhaka. Career Huq joined the ''Pakistan Observer'' in 1951 as joint editor and after the independence of Bangladesh in 1971 he joined ''The Bangladesh Observer'' as the editor. Ekushey Padak
Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was subsequently increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015. Next it was increased to tk 2,00,000 in 2017 and to tk 4,00,000 as of November 2019. Feni is a district located in southeastern Bangladesh. It was a part of the Greater Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Tripura. , the district's estimated population stood at 1,437,371, making it the ninth-most populous district in Chittagong Division. Khawaja Nazimuddin
Sir Khawaja Nazimuddin ( bn, খাজা নাজিমুদ্দীন; ur, ; 19 July 1894 – 22 October 1964) was a Pakistani politician and one of the leading founding fathers of Pakistan. He is noted as being the first Bengali to have ruled Pakistan, first as a Governor-General (1948–51), and later as a Prime Minister (1951–53). Feni Government College is a traditional higher education institute of Feni District of Bangladesh. It is one of the oldest educational institutions in southeastern Bengal.
