ASA Filmudlejning
ASA Filmudlejning is a noted Danish film studio founded in 1936 and based in Hellerup, Copenhagen. It produced approximately 90 films between 1936 and 1988 although the bulk of its production was in the 1940s and 1950s. During this period, among its most notable directors were Lau Lauritzen and Alice O'Fredericks. The writer Morten Korch used the studio to turn his books into the family film ''Far til fire'' series, that has continued to this day with its fifth generation of actors. With the last movie released in 2018, and one in current production to be released in 2020 making it 20 films in this series alone. In 1990 film producer Henrik Møller-Sørensen took over ASA Film after a large amount of the company’s studio facilities and property had been sold to the state of Denmark. A film studio (also known as movie studio or simply studio) is a major entertainment company or motion picture company that has its own privately owned studio facility or facilities that are used to make films, which is handled by the production company. Hellerup
Hellerup () is a very affluent district of Gentofte Municipality in the suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. The most urban part of the district is centred on Strandvejen and is bordered by Østerbro to the south and the Øresund to the east. It comprises Tuborg Havn, the redeveloped brewery site of Tuborg Breweries, with the Waterfront Shopping Center, a marina and the headquarters of several large companies. Alice O'Fredericks
Alice O'Fredericks (born Mitzi Otha Alice Frederiksen; 8 September 1899 – 18 February 1968) was a Danish actress, screenwriter, and film director. She is best known for directing the series of ''Far til Fire'' (''Father of Four'') comedies and the series of family dramas based on Morten Korch novels. Having written 38 produced screenplays and directed 72 feature films, O'Fredericks was one of the most prolific directors in Danish cinema. O'Fredericks also directed the first Danish films which highlighted women's rights. The Alice Award, presented annually to the Best Female Director at the Copenhagen International Film Festival, is named in her honor. Morten Korch
Morten Luther Gudmund Korch (1876–1954) was a Danish writer who wrote populist stories and romances about rural Denmark. During his lifetime, he was the most widely read author in Denmark. Korch wrote 123 novels, several of which were made into popular films. In 1937, Korch was awarded a Danish knighthood in the Order of Dannebrog. ''Far til Fire'', (English Title: ''Father of Four''), is a 1953 Danish family comedy directed by Alice O'Fredericks and starring Ib Schønberg and Birgitte Bruun. The film is based on the comic strip by Kaj Engholm and Olav Hast. It was the inaugural film in a series of eight ''Father of Four'' films made by ASA Films, one each year from 1953 to 1961. John Olsen (film Producer)
John Olsen (12 August 1888 – 9 December 1959) was a Danish film producer, screenwriter and theater owner. Olsen founded the Saga Studio in Copenhagen, Denmark where he produced more than 30 films from 1941 to 1959, including the Danish Culture Canon film ''Soldaten og Jenny''. He wrote 24 films between 1936 and 1960. In 1941, Olsen built and operated one of Scandinavia's largest movie theaters, the 1513-seat Saga Teatret in Copenhagen.
