The Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation (AGCFF; ar, إتحاد كأس الخليج العربي لكرة القدم) is a regional association football body for eight member countries. It was established in May 2016, and its main competition is the Arabian Gulf Cup. History Several preparatory meetings were held in 2015 using the working title ''Gulf Football Federation''. The federation then was founded in 2016 as ''Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation'' to reflect the region's oldest competition: the Arabian Gulf Cup. Sheikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al Thani of Qatar was named as the first president. 24th Arabian Gulf Cup
The 24th Arabian Gulf Cup was the 24th edition of the Gulf Cup of Nations, biennial football competition for the eight members of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation. Eight teams participated in the tournament. On 15 July 2019, the AGCFF announced that the tournament would be held in Qatar from 24 November to 6 December 2019. The Arabian Gulf Cup ( ar, كأس الخليج العربي, ''Kass Al-Khaleej Al-Arabi''), often referred to simply as the Gulf Cup, is a biennial football competition governed by the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation for its eight member nations. The history of the competition has also seen it held every three to four years due to political or organisational problems. History The idea for the tournament was established at the 1968 Summer Olympics, and the first Arabian Gulf Cup took place in 1970 which was won by Kuwait. Kuwait has been the most successful team in the tournament's history, winning 10 tournaments out of 24 in total, while Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iraq all have three titles. The current champions are Bahrain, who defeated Saudi Arabia in 2019 to win their first title. 25th Arabian Gulf Cup
The 25th Arabian Gulf Cup, known as Khaleeji Zain 25 for sponsorship reasons, was the 25th edition of the Arabian Gulf Cup, biennial football competition for the eight members of the Arab Gulf Cup Football Federation. The tournament was hosted in Iraq for the first time since 5th Arabian Gulf Cup, 1979, in the host city of Basra. Hosts Iraq national football team, Iraq won their fourth title by beating Oman national football team, Oman 3–2 after extra time in the final. Teams Draw The draw was held on 25 October 2022 at at the Grand Millennium Al Seef in Basra. The eight teams were drawn into two groups of four, by selecting one team from each of the four ranked pots. West Asian Football Federation
The West Asian Football Federation (WAFF; ar, اتحاد غرب آسيا لكرة القدم, Ittiḥād Gharb Āsiyā li-Kurat al-Qadam), founded in 2001, is an association of the football playing nations in Western Asia. Its founding members are Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. In 2009, three more associations joined the federation: Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. Four other nations of Western Asia: Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia joined in 2010. Iran left the federation on 10 June 2014 with the creation of the Central Asian Football Federation. They organize the West Asian Football Federation Championship. Some nations were invited to participate in the competition from outside the region.
