@ A. E. Harris was a theatre space located within the working metal fabricators' factory A E Harris, in the Jewellery Quarter of Birmingham, England. It was the home of the experimental Stan's Cafe theatre company. The venue was established in 2008 by Stan's Cafe for their work '' Of All The People In All The World''. The collaboration won an Arts & Business award in 2009 and in 2010 the company secured funding from the National Lottery to extend their lease and improve the venue's facilities. Over the following year performances by Birmingham Rep, the Birmingham Opera Company and Kindle Theatre were held in the space, as well as further performances by Stan's Cafe. The Jewellery Quarter is an area of central Birmingham, UK, in the north-western area of Birmingham City Centre, with a population of around 19,000 people in a area. The Jewellery Quarter is Europe's largest concentration of businesses involved in the jewellery trade, which produces 40% of all the jewellery made in the UK. It is also home to the world's largest Assay Office, which hallmarks around 12 million items a year. Historically the Jewellery Quarter has been the birthplace of many pioneering advancements in industrial technology. Stan's Cafe is a theatre company based in Birmingham, United Kingdom, with a long track record in producing experimental theatre, installations and live art. Established in 1991, it has become "one of Britain's major contemporary theatre exports" with an "international reputation" for devising and touring powerful and "unusual performances."
