6th Legislative Assembly Of Quebec
The 6th Legislative Assembly of Quebec was the provincial legislature in Quebec, Canada that existed from October 14, 1886, to June 17, 1890. During most of the term, the Quebec Liberal Party, also known as the Parti national as that period, was the governing party. However, the Quebec Conservative Party despite losing the election tried to form a minority government with John Jones Ross and Louis-Olivier Taillon as Premiers but only managed to last a few months before the Liberals led by Honoré Mercier, the founder of the Parti National, formed a narrow majority government with 33 of the 65 seats of the Legislative Assembly of Quebec. Jean Blanchet (Quebec Politician)
Hon. Jean Gervais Protais Blanchet (February 10, 1843 – December 11, 1908) was the second eldest of eleven children of Cyprien Blanchet, notary public of St. Francois, Beauce and his wife, Marie Gosselin. He was a descendant of one of Quebec’s oldest families who settled in Quebec in 1667. Born in St. Gervais, he was educated at Nicolet College. He entered Laval University to study law and was called to the Bar of Lower Canada in 1863. He practised law with the firm of Henri-Elzear Taschereau. He was created a Q.C. by the government of Quebec in 1876 and had the same honour conferred on him by the Canadian government in 1880. He was elected and served as batonnier of the Quebec section of the Bar from 1889-1891 and batonnier-general of the province 1890-1891. Chambly (provincial Electoral District)
Chambly is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada. It includes the city of Chambly and other smaller municipalities. It was created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, it lost Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville to the newly created Montarville electoral district. Antoine Rocheleau
Antoine Rocheleau (October 4, 1836 – April 28, 1901) was a farmer and political figure in Quebec. He represented Chambly in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1886 to 1892 and from 1897 to 1900 as a Liberal. He was born in Chambly, Lower Canada The Province of Lower Canada (french: province du Bas-Canada) was a British colony on the lower Saint Lawrence River and the shores of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence (1791–1841). It covered the southern portion of the current Province of Quebec an ..., the son of Antoine Rocheleau and Françoise Brais, dit Labonté, and was educated at the Collège de Chambly. Rocheleau's farm was located at Saint-Hubert. He was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1892. Rocheleau was married twice: to Onésime Sainte-Marie in 1856 and to Alphonsine Morin in 1895. William Warren Lynch
William Warren Lynch (September 30, 1845 – November 23, 1916) was a Canadian lawyer, politician, and judge in the province of Quebec. Biography Born near the Village of Bedford, County of Missisquoi, Canada East, the son of Thomas Lynch of County Cavan and Charlotte R. Williams, Lynch attended Stanbridge Academy and entered the University of Vermont in 1861 but did not continue his studies there due to the American Civil War. In 1862, he received a scholarship from McGill University and entered the Arts course but due to his poor health he was unable to complete his studies. In 1865, he started studying law in the law office of S. W. Foster in Knowlton and later John Monk in Montreal. He received a Bachelor of Laws degree from McGill in 1868 and was called to the Quebec Bar the same year. In 1869, he started practicing law in Knowlton and later in Sweetsburg. Bonaventure is a provincial electoral district in the Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. Henri-Josué Martin (March 12, 1843 – August 14, 1926) was a physician and political figure in Quebec. He represented Bonaventure in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1882 to 1890 as a Conservative. Louis Sylvestre
Louis Sylvestre (February 12, 1832 – February 10, 1914) was a farmer and political figure in Quebec. He represented Berthier in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1871 to 1878 and from 1886 to 1889 as a Liberal. He was born in Sainte-Geneviève-de-Berthier, Lower Canada, the son of Pierre Sylvestre and Josephte Rivard, dit Lavigne. He was educated at the Collège de l'Assomption and established a farm at ÃŽle-Dupas. In 1848, he married Marie Plante. Sylvestre served on the local school board as commissioner, secretary and president. He was also mayor of ÃŽle-Dupas. Sylvestre was defeated by Joseph Robillard when he ran for reelection in 1878. He ran unsuccessfully for a federal seat in 1882. He resigned his seat in the Quebec assembly in 1889 and represented Lanaudière division in the Legislative Council of Quebec from 1890 to 1905. Édouard Faucher De Saint-Maurice
Narcisse Henri Édouard Faucher (April 18, 1844 – April 1, 1897) was a Canadian author, journalist, army officer, and politician who published books under the name Faucher de Saint-Maurice. Life Faucher was born in Quebec. His father, Narcisse-Constantin Faucher, was a lawyer and the seigneur of Beaumont, Vincennes, and of Montapeine. His mother was Catherine-Henriette Marcier. He was educated at the Séminaire de Québec and at the Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière. In 1864, he joined the conflict in Mexico and became a captain in the 4th Mexican sharpshooters. Afterward, he was aide-de-camp to General the Viscount Courtois Roussel d'Hurbal. He served through the war, being in 11 battles, 32 minor engagements, and at the sieges of Oaxaca and Satillo; at the latter, he was made prisoner and sentenced to be shot, but was, instead, exchanged.
