5165 National Conservative Movement Party
The 5165 National Conservative Movement Party ( hy, 5165 Ազգային պահպանողական շարժում կուսակցություն, translit=5165 Azgayin pahpanoghakan sharzhum kusakts’ut’yun) is an Armenian political party. It was founded on 22 April 2021 and is currently led by Karin Tonoyan. History The 5165 National Conservative Movement Party was founded in April 2021 and Karin Tonoyan was elected chairwoman of the party. The number within the name of the party represents the height of Mount Ararat. The party announced its intentions to participate in the 2021 Armenian parliamentary election. Following the election, the party won 1.22% of the popular vote, failing to win any seats in the National Assembly. Currently, the party acts as an extra-parliamentary force. Mount Ararat
Mount Ararat or , ''Ararat''; or is a snow-capped and dormant compound volcano in the extreme east of Turkey. It consists of two major volcanic cones: Greater Ararat and Little Ararat. 2021 Armenian Parliamentary Election
Snap parliamentary elections were held in Armenia on 20 June 2021. The elections had initially been scheduled for 9 December 2023, but were called earlier due to a political crisis following the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh War and an alleged attempted coup in February 2021. Nikol Pashinyan, who had served as Prime Minister since 2018, resigned in April 2021 and subsequently the seventh National Assembly was dissolved on 10 May. Pashinyan continued to serve as acting prime minister until the elections were held. Following the election, Pashinyan's Civil Contract party received 54% of the vote and won 71 seats, a majority in the 107-seat parliament. Armenian Diaspora
The Armenian diaspora refers to the communities of Armenians outside Armenia and other locations where Armenians are considered an indigenous population. Since antiquity, Armenians have established communities in many regions throughout the world. However, the modern Armenian diaspora was largely formed as a result of World War I, when the Armenian genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire forced Armenians living in their homeland to flee or risk being killed.
