33rd Quebec Legislature
The 33rd National Assembly of Quebec was the provincial legislature in Quebec, Canada that was elected in the 1985 Quebec general election and sat from December 16, 1985, to March 8, 1988 (first session) and from March 8, 1988, to August 9, 1989 (second session). The Quebec Liberal Party led by Robert Bourassa was the governing party, while the Parti Québécois, led by Pierre-Marc Johnson and later Jacques Parizeau, was the official opposition. Bertrand (1981–1994 Electoral District)
Bertrand was the name of a defunct provincial electoral district in the province of Quebec, Canada. It was located in the Montérégie region, and is not to be confused with the later, entirely different Bertrand electoral district located in the Lanaudière and Laurentides regions, which re-used the name but otherwise has nothing in common. It was created for the 1981 election from parts of the existing Chambly and Verchères districts. Its final election was in 1989. It disappeared in the 1994 election and its successor electoral district was Marguerite-D'Youville. It was in this electoral district that Robert Bourassa was elected in a by-election on June 3, 1985 as part of his political comeback after returning as Quebec Liberal Party leader, only to be defeated by the Parti Québécois candidate in the 1985 general election a few months later. Bellechasse is a provincial electoral riding in the Chaudière-Appalaches region of Quebec, Canada which elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. Beauharnois is a provincial electoral district in the Montérégie region of Quebec, Canada that elects members to the National Assembly of Quebec. The district notably include the city of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. It was created in 2001 from parts of Beauharnois-Huntingdon, Châteauguay and Salaberry-Soulanges. In the change from the 2001 to the 2011 electoral map, its territory was unchanged. An earlier version of the Beauharnois electoral district had been created for the 1867 election (and an electoral district of that name existed earlier in the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada). Its last election was in 1985. It disappeared in the 1989 election and its successor electoral district was Beauharnois-Huntingdon.
