2023 Women's Ice Hockey World Championships
The 2023 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships were the 25th such event hosted by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Teams participated at several levels of competition. The competition also served as qualifications for the 2024 competition. As in 2022, teams from Russia and Belarus were not allowed to enter, as they were suspended by the IIHF due to the countries' invasion of Ukraine. Championship (Top Division) The tournament was held in Brampton, Canada from 5 to 16 April 2023. Division I Group A The tournament was scheduled to be held in Shenzhen, China from 11 to 17 April 2023, but in March 2023, it was postponed. 2022 Women's Ice Hockey World Championships
The 2022 Women's World Ice Hockey Championships were the 24th such series of tournaments organised by the International Ice Hockey Federation. Teams participated at several levels of competition. The tournaments also served as qualifications for the 2023 competition. Host countries Championship (Top Division) After the top division was paused every four years (during the Olympics), a new proposal called for the tournament to be played every year from 2022 onward. The proposal was adopted on 22 September 2021. The tournament was held in Herning and Frederikshavn, Denmark from 25 August to 4 September 2022. As in 2023, teams from Russia and Belarus have not been allowed to enter, as they remain suspended by the IIHF due to the countries' invasion of Ukraine. International Ice Hockey Federation
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF; french: Fédération internationale de hockey sur glace; german: Internationale Eishockey-Föderation) is a worldwide governing body for ice hockey. It is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and has 83 member countries. The IIHF maintains the IIHF World Ranking based on international ice hockey tournaments. Rules of play for IIHF events differ from hockey in North America and the rules of the National Hockey League (NHL). Decisions of the IIHF can be appealed through the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, Switzerland. The IIHF maintains its own hall of fame for international ice hockey.
