2023 SAFF U-20 Women's Championship
The 2023 SAFF U-20 Women's Championship was the 4th edition of the SAFF U-18/19/20 Women's Championship, an international football competition for women's under–20 national teams organized by SAFF. The tournament were played from 3–9 February 2023 in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is the defending champion having defeated Nepal by 3–0 goals in the final of the tournament on 9 February 2023. Venue All matches were held at the BSSS Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any). Its was held from 2–10 September 2023 in Thimphu, Bhutan. India are the defending champions, who won their fifth title in 2023 by defeating Bangladesh in the final. Venue On 22 July 2023, SAFF announced the tournament will be held at the Changlimithang Stadium in Thimphu, Bhutan. Teams Sri Lanka are ineligible for participation as they are suspended by FIFA.
